Thread: Relics

    Re: Relics

The sculptor did say something about the arms on the Angilde being pretty much interchangeable - Including which side of the body they go on.... I think you just need to 'remove' a spike ont he ball joint and your away!

Should mean you can get a lot of variants on the Angilde.

And here is the link to the Highlanders!

I do like the models but was expecting a blood groove on the swords (to make them more gun powder tech), but very nice models indeed. Lots of movement and arrogance, lets hope the heads are separate parts again, maybe the shields to, makes converting the second pack so much easier.

EDIT: Looking at the hair/swords/shields these are single pieces?

Hahaha, Highlanders are awesome! Great addition to the Britanans.
The great thing about the dwarves is that, even though there's this comic element, when they fight - they really fight!

    Hi all,

Today (may be yesterday when you read this) we sent out about 15 parcels with some Nuem pieces in!!

I know this is far from outstanding news but it is a little progress. So, I wanted to give an update and try and explain some of the issues so you all understand some of the hurdles we have faced (if you have ever ran a business where you rely on other companies to deliver, some of this may seem familiar)

Some of you may be wondering why it’s taken taking so long, well just like the planets aligning in a story from the mind of Lovecraft, a series of events occurred that are all out of our control which each had a knock on effect on the others and caused delays ontop of delays on top of delays. Just a few of them are:

    1) Project being far more successful than we ever imagined. This meant that even though we had built in breathing space into the schedule for the whole project, our schedule was going to be way…. And I mean wwwwaaaaaayyyyyyyy out.

    2) Casters workload. Because of the above, the time the caster would need increased massively. This, coupled with the fact that we are not the casters only customer, means that we are having to work around his schedule as much as ours.

    3) Mould Failures. We had a number of moulds fail. This means the casts from them weren’t usable and the moulds had to be remade. Again, we are working to the casters scehdule for this.

Some people have asked that if they were to pay for shipping, would we ship their models quicker. Well, to put it simply, no. Paying for shipping won’t get you your models any quicker as we don’t have the models to send……

This is having major knock-ons beyond the project too. Because of these stock issues we can not release the new starter sets etc for general purchase and therefore our monthly cash flow is being mashed. Sigh.

So, in the end, if I could have all the models in your hands right now, then I would do. But I am not in a position to make that happen right now. Believe me, you want your models and I want you to have them. I’m fed up of sleepless nights as I try and figure out a way to solve this that doesn’t involve just waiting for more stock but I will be damned if I can find one.

So, I ask you all to please be patient. You will get your models, but not until I can get the stock. :-(

    Re: Relics

Well I guess I'm one of the lucky 15 Why yes, that is my smug jammyness you see in that smiley face right there

    So what did I get?

Two Dedicatus, 6 Paenitentiam, and a Specialis Pueri - plus a bag of Nuem dice. I'm going to be as honest as I can here because I know the feedbacks appreciated and listened too.

    THE DEDICATUS
    - POSITIVES
Very nice in the flesh. They come with two hands, two drills, and two face masks. Personally, knowing I'm not going to need the extra bits for anything, I would sell them as different options as there quite large pieces - or maybe sell the torsos direct. Speaking of which, they are without a shadow of a doubt some of the nicest resin castings I've seen there weren't from Mike McVey. I honestly I have no idea how all the cabling was cast as well as it has been as a lot of it is extremely fine.

    - NEGATIVES
Theres one large air bubble but given that the rest of the casting is perfect, I'm not bothered what so ever. Its resin, its to be expected. My only other slight criticism is that I have lots of extra bits. Its probably to make picking and packing easier, but I'd consider selling the torsos seperately at some point so people could use up there extra bits especially when the face masks look good both ways around.

    THE PAENITENTIAM
    - POSITIVES
When I first say worthy paintings take on these, they looked a bit like children. Now I have them in the flesh that really really isn't the case. I can see why they went in that direction, but you could easily make these into withered and haggered looking creatures if you wanted, and theres plenty of space for painters to flex there creative muscles. The chains are all filled out nicely and the vents are well placed which is particularly impressive - I was really worried that these were going to be horribly miscast or not filled correctly but, true to form, tor delivers. These were the models I was least interested in truth be told, but now I have them I'm itching to get started.

    - NEGATIVES
Essentially what you'd expect. The chains are thin so they will break if your not careful. The holes for the chains are too small but you can easily drill them out and fill with putty, and with a thin enough drill bit, pin them in place. The chains suffered from some minor pitting, but part of me likes that because again, its something I can work into the character of the miniature (rusting, coroded etc) and nothing that will be too obvious once there undercoated. One figure has a miscast foot, but its slight enough that some careful filing will fix it right up.

    PUERI
    -POSITIVES
I really like this figure. She feels like a counter figure to the casting Huntawalu if that makes sense.

    - NEGATIVES
Non Perfect casting which is impressive given the size and shape of the figure.

    DICE BAG
    - POSITIVES
To me this was an extra I wasn't bothered about, which is why I let Misses Addams pick. Whats sad is that most gamers won't buy this, either because they have dice or like I did, see it as unnecessary addition. I'll say to them now that there wrong, there fools, and they shouldn't be allowed nice things because there lovely. The dice bag is high quality and very strong, whilst being big enough to not bulge with the dice inside, with plenty of space for extra dice. A quick knot and it stays very secure to the point where you can tip it upside down and shake it without them falling out. The dice themselves are incredibly nice, large and weighty and well balanced from my few rolls so far.

    - NEGATIVES
I got Nuem instead of Britannan - having said that, I'd have bought them anyway. They also aren't likely to be a great money spinner for Tor, so probably won't be a regular product. That would be incredibly disappointing, but either way, I appreciate the fact that I have these.

    OVERALL
I know I've mentioned the word miscast more then once but let me be perfectly clear. In my last job I checked tens of thousands of castings, and was chastised more then once for being too picky; if any of the 'miscasts' above weren't fixable or expected, I would have emailed Tor before writing any of this. Overal the castings are as I've come to expect - top notch and high quality.

What I'd like to see next is some variant on these figures. The torsos for the Dedicatus as mentioned above to me is a abosolute no brainer. Some alternate weapon options would also be nice (some kind of cannon please) but some of this may be covered by the other sculpts for the range. I'd also consider converting the Paenitantium to have a different weapon option - some kind of sword blade or buzz saw perhaps, which would also make it easier for those of us who are a little ham fisted. I'd seriously consider selling the chains as extras as well. I'd also consider having a word with zinge industries about getting them cast in flexible resin as a premium add on - again, for those who are ham fisted but want chains flying everywhere.

The Nuem so far are a solid product, one that I am very happy to have invested in. If anyone wants pictures please post which parts and model below and I'll see what I can do tonight once my PC is all sorted... and I've built some shelves.. and tidied the house... bah

Those look nice, Hybrids for the Dedicatus bodies seems a natural choice, lots of detail there. I wonder if I can get those face plates hinged.

Still looking forward to receiving them, but time is not so much of an issue here as I have enough to finish for this Tale of Skirmish Game Painters. The Nuem are for the next one.

AKU-CHAN - Yup the miscasts are minor and I'm being really picky because when the castings that good to begin with you kind of have to be

LITTLE JOE - I've been wondering that myself. I think that worthy painting put magents into the rim and in the faceplates. Personally I'll either add a large magnet to the top or bottom where theres room, or just buy another pair, which seems by far the easiest option :P

Yes, feedback is always listened too - When we see it

Air bubble? Damn it!! If you are happy with it still then fine, but sorry for that - I'm sure I picked them all out.

At this time each model gets all options - so both face plates and both weapon options as, like you say, it's much quicker for picking. We could sell the resin body separately but that would be a direct order only option as it's not really an option retailers. Could cause issues of customers not reading the packet right!

Of course, you could magnetise the weapons. ;-)

    THE PAENITENTIAM
    - POSITIVES
When I first say worthy paintings take on these, they looked a bit like children. Now I have them in the flesh that really really isn't the case. The chains were a bitch to cast, but the caster found a solution. We could solve the pitting issue by using looser metal but then they would be even softer....

the chains themselves serve as their own pin, drill out the whole and insert the chain directly in! You can cut the chains down too which will reduce issues when gaming as they won't be so long. We didn't do this with the studio paint jobs as we really wanted to show that movement in the model!

If you want us to replace that miscast, just drop me an email.

    PUERI
    -POSITIVES
I really like this figure. She feels like a counter figure to the casting Huntawalu if that makes sense.

    - NEGATIVES
Non Perfect casting which is impressive given the size and shape of the figure.
Blushing again. I will pass on all your praise for the casting to the caster.

    DICE BAG
A quick knot and it stays very secure to the point where you can tip it upside down and shake it without them falling out. ********. I've made a note and will send you the right set in your second package. Sorry about that.

The Dice will likely stick around, I agree that they won't be a massive money spinner but we have been asked sooooooo many times for dice that people seem to want them - Time will tell.

The bags will most likely not be reproduced - So consider them limited editions!

Again, I will pass on the comments about the casting to the caster. I know it will pick up his spirits after all the harrassing he has had from me to get the stuff cast so we can send out all the goodies.

What I'd like to see next is some variant on these figures. The torsos for the Dedicatus as mentioned above to me is a abosolute no brainer.
Expect to see the 'torso only' option on our store when we release the individual packs

Some alternate weapon options would also be nice (some kind of cannon please) but some of this may be covered by the other sculpts for the range.
We have a chap with a '****** great cannon on the way - In fact, I think the art is somewhere up above. We also have the Nuem Cavalry coming... Their artwork is somewhere on the interweb (and is in the book).

I'd also consider converting the Paenitantium to have a different weapon option - some kind of sword blade or buzz saw perhaps, which would also make it easier for those of us who are a little ham fisted. I'd seriously consider selling the chains as extras as well.
Different weapon options for the Paenitentium are do-able. We would likely write new rules for each weapon options as the current rules are very much geared to the effect the chains would have on the enemy.

The chains are already destined for the accessories section of the store. ;-)

I'd also consider having a word with zinge industries about getting them cast in flexible resin as a premium add on - again, for those who are ham fisted but want chains flying everywhere.
I will speak to the caster about a flexible resin option for the chains.

Air bubble? Damn it!! If you are happy with it still then fine, but sorry for that - I'm sure I picked them all out.
Its in a really easy to miss place, and could easily have been a bubble underneath the surface that then got damaged later whilst packing or shipping so yes, I'm absolutely happy with it. The other suit is absolutely flawless, and I appreciate whoever chopped off the leg feeds.

At this time each model gets all options - so both face plates and both weapon options as, like you say, it's much quicker for picking. We could sell the resin body separately but that would be a direct order only option as it's not really an option retailers. Could cause issues of customers not reading the packet right!
Direct onlys fine - again like the dice, it won't be a massive money spinner but again, its one of those options as a painter that I'd appreciate.

Of course, you could magnetise the weapons. ;-)
I could... I think I might ... but if your advising that then I'd counter with, when are you going to start selling magnets :P

The chains were a bitch to cast, but the caster found a solution. We could solve the pitting issue by using looser metal but then they would be even softer....
What about chopping in a few more feeds (across the tips for example) and adding a solid tube at the bottom of the chain so the metal can flow in easier? As I said though, if these were something like an Elf Prince, or even Vaettir wings, I'd be bothered. On worn metal, not at all.

If you want us to replace that miscast, just drop me an email.
Again, its so minor theres no point, and only a pedantic sod such as myself would bother to call it miscast. To put it into context with other recent purchases, my CMON legion figure had no face and a distorted gun, my warhound titan had 28 miscast parts, and Malifaux Kaeris.. well.. a chuffing mess.
So, please by all means give your caster a pat on the back from someone not easily impressed by castings.

********. I've made a note and will send you the right set in your second package. Sorry about that.
I'd rather you stuck my name at the end of the cue, let me know when everythings in, and send me a bill for them instead That way I can add some Highlanders and other odds and sods too Such as...

Expect to see the 'torso only' option on our store when we release the individual packs
    Yay!

We have a chap with a '****** great cannon on the way - In fact, I think the art is somewhere up above. We also have the Nuem Cavalry coming... Their artwork is somewhere on the interweb (and is in the book).
I do seem to remember, but I was busy being all excited at the time to remember

Different weapon options for the Paenitentium are do-able. We would likely write new rules for each weapon options as the current rules are very much geared to the effect the chains would have on the enemy.
Thats fair enough. I remember when you first previewed them I said the chains would be difficult to work with. I've also just sized up the Dedicatus drills and they seem to be a perfect fit if you wanted an easy alternative... nudge nudge. In all seriousness there lovely figures and whilst another three variants with different weapons would be lovely, some weapon swaps would suit me equally well.

I also think I might get some more of these to use as 40k electro priests, replacing the chains with cables.

I will speak to the caster about a flexible resin option for the chains.
Zinge actually have a wire running through there cables to add strength - and again, like buying the extra suit its a nice addition but not a money spinner or something that would sway a purchase.

First pain suit is sprayed, going to get these Vaettir done while he dries I think.

Anybody read about the first paint jobs being on eBay soon?

I have the old pictures saved and after checking them out I remembered the first time I saw those Britanan troopers. I will most certainly bid on those, they somehow have sentimental value and being able to own some is a great thing. Should it be so I will give them a place of honour and will demand a certificate of authenticity.
