"Seem" unintended? If there hadn't been the SW FAQ nobody would have had any doubts what it is supposed to do.
And RAW with the SW FAQ:
    Q. If the unit type that a Wolf Priest’s Oath of War
affects is declared to be Bikes, does the unit gain the
benefit against Jetbikes, and vice versa?
    (p35)
    A. Yes, because Jetbikes is a subcategory of the ‘Bike’
    unit type.
My italics. RAW, the Dakkajet is BS 4 versus jetbikes and bikes, since abilities works vice versa.
Course, I doubt anyone would actually walk up to a game and claim that bonus, since I believe people are good and logical beings at heart.

It's dishonest, borderline cheating, and pretty low. If winning (Or rather, gain a small advantage over their oponent) is so important to a player that he has to resort to underhand tactics like this, then maybe he shouldn't play at the grown-up's table.

This is not a singleplayer computer game, you know, it's two people with their lovingly painted toy soldiers agreeing to have a game. This is kind of like exploiting a glitch in a computer game, and it's all fun and games when you are on your own, but when you are playing with your friends and you do something like this, then you must be a very sorry person indeed.

I am failing to see the problem. If you take the jet and if you take an ace and if you waagh you may kill jetbiks as easily as marines. So? Too many ifs to make an impact....

The rules say you get BS3, the rules also say you get +1BS. I fail to see how using both of these rules together is somehow dishonest cheating? Is having an Ork hit on the same roll as a Space Marine vs one very specific target type really that bad.

I guess by that same rationale then all GK players must be dishonest cheats aswell then.
GM:"You awake to a beautiful morning, the forest is peaceful as a zephyr whistles through the tree branches"
Bob:"A Whistling Zephyr? I waste it with my crossbow...ha I rolled a critical hit...28 points of damage, is it dead?"
GM:"What? of course not you *****, it just carries on whistling thru the trees"
Sara:"Guys relax a zephyr is just a breeze"
Bob:"Breeze my ass, it just took 28 hit points and it's still whistling at me!"

You know fully well what I mean. Don't even pretend you don't understand what I'm saying.

Amusingly, it's order-dependent. You only get to BS4 if the BS3 is applied before the +1BS. If the +1BS is applied first or simultaneously then it's just BS3.

But as we know, characteristics reduced to a fixed value can still be affected by modifiers. See Initiative for precedent

We know what you mean. You don't like the rule so you want to complain in a rules forum about people who want to follow the rules engaging in "dishonest, borderline cheating" while people who don't want to play by the rules are virtuous paragons of humanity. And you want to complain about people following the rules in the rules forum.

Doctor Tom I sort of see it like OJ Simpson. Sure we all knew he did it, but the letter of the law says otherwise

Am I happy about an ork vehicle being BS 4 against my reaver jetbikes? Not really. But I just have to deal with it and hope GW come to their senses in an FAQ one day, like with the whole "two units giving each other a cover save" fiasco. My room mate (Warlord Bob) says he'll be playing it as BS 3. To be fair I think I should tell him to use it as BS 4 against me. That's RAW, bane of common sense, but that's the way the world is

Indeed. If a player is going to make insulting statements unsupported by facts then they shouldn't post in the grown-ups forum for rules. If you think it's cheating. Prove it. That is currently the topic of this thread afterall.

so basically, the overall suggestion is, as always, kill your enemy before they kill you. Gotcha. *turns to his terminator with autocannon* shoot down any ork's in the air ok? we'll kill the one's on the ground.

This is not dishonest because your not lying that is how it works. It's not cheating and not boarderline cheating because the way it's written it works that way. It being low is subjective.
