Thumbs up WWII-going small again FOW batrep with pics

One of our regular FOW players stopped by so i hit him up for a small 1,300 point midwar game

    I playe a mid-war brit 8th army recce platoon
interestingly enough we rolled up a random mission and got dustup

I ended up snaging some minis to fill in my divisional support royal artillery battallion.

    My force
    .Command HQ-
    X2 AEC1s
    .platoons-
    X3 armored car platoons-daimler+2 humberIII

    Div support
    .Air:hurricane-C
.Light tank-challenger platoon (2 upgraded to MKIIIs)
.Artillery-royal horse mechanised 4 priest's with command stuart and 2 spotters

    His forces
.he went infantry with 2 88s and a 3 tank panzer IV platoon.

The table we broke out was a hilly desert terrain board, made me think we were in gazala. we added a couple rivers and a road.

He got to choose deployment and it got me stuck in the mountains. with delayed reserves i only managed to put out my artillery and a scout platoon.

My scouts managed to dodge some fire from the 88s, my artillery never ranged in but i did get a coupl ground attack runs from my planes.

this allowed me to take out both his 88s. my reserves came in frist but because of teh oppsote deployment rules they were way to far away to support my artillery. unfrotunately i waited a turn to late to start moving them away from where his panzers rolled in.

I managed to get air on station and take down one fo the 3 panzers but it was not enough from to keep them from getting at my priests.

Most of my force was tied up trying to dig out his infanty in his depolyment zone. then something real silly happened. we got into a point blank shootout between my stuarts/priests and his remaining panzers...and neither one of us could hit the broad side fo a bard for like 3 turns. and when i did hit him he almost always made his save ro i failed my frepower check.

In the end he got infantry reserves in and used them to take down my priests. i did manage to kill the remaining panzers and wear down his original infantry platoon. but then he just dug in the new arrivals in my deployment zone on top of one of my objectives.

leaving me in possesion of 1 objective, him contesting 1 and holding 2. we ended the game there as it would have taken all night for me to dig his infantry out at the rate we were going. suprisingly minimal losses to my force even though i didn't win.

Nice. I like busy tables with lots of terrain.

Battle looks awesome! I have just started collecting FoW and seeing photos of a game in progress is great.

    Thanks for posting these pictures.
