I seem to remember this is exactly the kind of news report the Zombie Surival Guide says to look out for.

Well I'm going to head for the ******* at ******** ******* right now.

What you didn't think I'd tell you guys where my hideout was?

Lostanddamned says: "You sir, are a cad of the highest order."

This is annoying me a bit. The whole "He affected by a new type of LSD" is rubbish. It's a new type of super amphetamine. Completely different

    A zombi-amphetamine ?

My bet would have been rabies, why would a homeless guy have access to super amphetamines anyway. Surely they buy from a long chain of dealers who would recut any strength out of this stuff, particularly if it has that type of effect on people.

No its rabies or zombies IMUO (In My Uninformed Opinion )

This story, no matter the cause, was really disturbing to me. The fact that the attacker ate the pinned guys eyes just creeps me out.

In all seriousness however, something must be going on, but I don't entirely believe that it would be a zombie apocalypse. He might have been on some form of narcotic, might just have been mentally deranged, or (tin-foil hat time), maybe the Government has been developing super-soldiers and we've just seen the side effects.

However, even trying to look at it as rationally as I can, it still creeps me out. Nasty way to go.

No. Some guy was on drugs. Sometimes the most simple explanation is the truth.

I believe the exact term is 'Zombpocolypse'

It's some crazy times we're living in...

The victim didn't fight back much, and was also nude I believe. What the hell?

I've got a feeling the victim was on it too. If so it's a shame his friend was an obvious nut case.

The Grauniad's version of this story has the individual on drugs. Cheap ($15 a go) ones (not LSD, 'LSD-like', whatever that means).

Really, of all the possible ways in which real life can and does imitate art, people eating each others' faces is my least favourite so far. Going to bed now, and planning to have no dreams whatsoever.

"Eugene and Poppo" The darker side of "Fear and Loathing in Miami" probably not starring Johnny Depp

If that cyclist had been me, I wonder what I would have done?

Stoved the guys head in, or locked myself in the basement (possibly both) ??

This is one of the most disturbing things I have read in awhile. Horrible. However it is not the zombie apocalypse because that is fiction, this is far worse.

What I don't get, apart from the benefits of chewing on a homeless guy's face, is that if CrazyDope is on the streets, how come there are no more wanna-be Hannibals running around?

This reminds me of the awesome thread on Warseer on what weapon to use at ZombieFest 2012...

Ah, today I read somewhere (sorry, linkie only in Dutch) that the Miami police are warning for a drug called Cloud Nine. You snort it, appeareantly, and it makes you want to eat people.

That's not very reassuring, is it? Psycho copy-cats eating your face as opposed to zombies.

Re: Has the Zombie-apocalypse arrived ?

A likely story... clearly the apocalypse is nigh.

I was hoping for slow zombies.... I'm not sure how survivable fast zombies are.

But in seriousness, google cloud nine and you get many reports on it. Creepy stuff.
