1850 Fluffy Iron Warriors List

40K Army: Chaos

Hey, so I'm working on my Iron Warriors. Every 2nd Wednesday at my local gaming store there is 1850 point games. Next week is the next one, and I would like to run my first actual fluff Iron Warriors List

Here's what I am thinking


Iron Warriors List – 1850

Hq:
Warsmith-Terminator Lord w/ daemon weapon, mark of tz - 160

Elite:
4 Terminators, 1 heavy flamer and one fist, 3 combi-plasmas, mark of tzeentch - 185
Land raider dedicated -220

Troop:
10 CSM, Mark of Chaos Glory, 2x Plasma Gun, Champion with Power Weapon – 220
Rhino w/ havoc launcher– 50
10 CSM, Mark of Chaos Glory, 2x Melta Gun, Champion with Power Fist - 220
Rhino w/havoc launcher– 50
10 CSM, Mark of Chaos Glory, Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun - 185

Heavy:
Defiler w/ reaper auto cannon & + 1 close Combat weapon - 150
Predator, Lascannon Sponsors, Twin-Linked Lascannons – 165
3x Obliterators -225

need to use 20 points somewhere...

So what do you think? Anything I can do to make this list fluffier for Iron Warriors?

I would have taken the melta squad as plague marines... but they don't fit with the fluff. For fluffs sake, I will part with my piles of Nurgle.

How is the MoT fluffy? MoCG is more fluffy, as that is the be all and end all undivided mark.

add the extra 5 pts to make the PF a CF in the termies. and combi-melta them instead.. str8 ap1 is better than str7 ap2 that can kill you. plus its good anti tank and character killing. and maybe add one LC to a model for wound allocation and added fun.

you could easily take PM's and make them fit fluff-wise... change them from plague filled.. to machine filled.. model them with an abundance of augments.. it will explain why they are extra tough, why they have FNP (built-in defib) and def grenades..

when I was considering IW with CSM I thought that MoT was fluffily representing their veterans remarkable resilience.

Ok, so mark of CG around the board then, combi-meltas, and try to model plague marines as more machine filled than plague filled.... the last one will be difficult

I have a unit of Plague Marines that represent Iron Warrior veterans. I combined bitz from the Iron Hand-conversion pack, servitor-arms from the Techmarine pack and as the aspiring champion I used the IW Lord-miniature. Amongst them I threw out some servo-skulls to enhance their machine "theme" and at the end I'm really proud of the result.

On your list - I like that you have a lot of armoured targets amongst your units. Sad enough is that the Land Raider will probably in most games get pounded to dirt by all the anti-tank fire (circling in the meta) to the point its points would be better set on other things? Like Iron Warrior Assult Marines (Raptors) w. meltas or some such.

Yeah, Land Raiders will get shot up for sure. I Agree on that one. I only have a single squad of raptors (champ with fist, 2x melta). Would that still be better?

Possess your landraider with that extra 20 points. It's well spent, trust me there.
