    I had the same thought. The snow shouldn't be that grainy at such a (supposed) long distance. The snow was definitely shot really close, which makes that mammoth teeny-tiny (no wonder no-one has seen them).

    I'd better explain myself I think. Yes, the photograph was taken in 1987, and in Berkshire, England. (Crowthorne to be precise). The camera used was similar to this.
    The picture is a bit blurry because the camera was not designed to achieve such shots. The 'hard copy' photograph was scanned into digital form when I scanned all my old pictures last year. To preserve my sanity I had to choose a resolution that compromised between detail, file size and speed (I did 1500+ photo graphs...).

    The 'mammoth' is a plastic childs toy from this range, of which I have collected since 1983 and have the complete set stood on a shelf in my lounge as we speak.
