    I'd like to give a thumbs up to everybody still in the Tale. There are some really impressive armies shaping up.
    It seems, however, that the drop in numbers towards the end is even bigger than in previous years. Why is that?

    @EmperorNorton: I hadn't even seen that. Oh well.

    I reckon the drop-off is down to the general 'bad atmosphere' in the economics news and all the double/triple dip recession stuff and will it/won't it Euro break up speculation. So a fair few people are looking for jobs. Also a few people have had kids and marriages, etc.

    Its a shame that its gone abit quiet but I do have to admit real lifes been getting in the way and its probably the same for alot of people.
    Ive barely bought anything recently and have found myself relying more and more on forum trades.
    I only started empire because I got 3 good trade offers!

    Im going to sign up again next year but it wont be anywhere near the amount of stuff ive done in this one.

    Im imagine alot of people will swap over to the 40k tale too at the next sign ups if im honest

    Ditto for me. I love the new shiny stuff as much as the next guy but I can`t afford it so I make do with what I have (+ some minor trades) after 20 years in the hobby. Luckily I like the old stuff

    My newest plog Chaos Daemons & Blood Pact Armoured Company .
    Space Wolves, the 13th Wolfwing, O&G army WAAAGH! Red Skullz, and last but not least my Blood Bowl teams.

    Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 9 (May painting and June WIP)

    Similar reasons for me. As soon as my Ogres are finished (I still cannot believe that after 11 years in the hobby I will in the near future own a fully painted army!) I will begin the next ToFP with my beloved Greenskins. Most of their models are quite old, some of them older than myself even. But like Red Skullz, I really like the old stuff and while there will be new stuff as well most of it will be a bit dated and/or metal. There won't be trolls for example because I cannot afford them.

    On a Ogre related note: I still haven't found time to paint, I scheduled it for tomorrow and Thursday (2 tough exams on Monday and tomorrow), but I got some conversion ideas for the last two Ogre bodies I have lying around: Some sort of Monster Hunter/Tunnel fighter (maybe with a bit of treasure he found on the way) as well as a Butcher with the Lore of Beasts!

    Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 9 (May painting and June WIP)

    Let’s see if I have enough time to type all comments in today’s lunch break.

    Page 1
    @Red Skullz: I like the mix of old and new models and the light blue spot colour.
    @ Zark the Damned: That’s a lot in one month. The banner is really good.
    @DAGabriel: I like the colour scheme. The bases are also nice.
    @EmperorNorton: Wow, beautiful. I hope I will have time soon to read your plog.
    @azhagmorglum: Nice trolls, those arrows on the bases are a great idea. The back of the wyvern is beautiful, I’m looking forward to see the rest of the beast.
    @juicytomatoes: The freehand design on the dress is very good. Well done!
    @JackDaw: I can’t wait a month. Luckily I can take a sneak preview in your plog.
    @Tekore: The pictures are a bit blurry, but I like what I see. Nice banner.
    @Morkash: That is cruel, poor goblin… But the ogre has nice pants.
    @Nagash66: Crisp painting, the lord is very nice. Are the eyes of the warriors painted? I can’t really see them in the picture.
    @Doi (ogres): That stonehorn is a big beast. I like your subtle conversion and the ‘natural’ colours.
    @Doi (dark elves): I think these are a little more colourful than the pictures show us. Am I right?
    @Confessor_Atol: congratulations.

    Page 2
    @Perplexiti (dwarfs): That’s a lot of dwarfs. I wish them a success in the wars they are going to fight.
    @Perplexiti (lizardman): Also almost finished? What will you do next?
    By the way I noticed that there is a Sonic CD with a track called perplexiti. Does your name refer to that?
    @Purplebeard (imperal dwarves): I like those strange and colourful dwarves. The WIPs look promising.
    @Purplebeard (chaos): The contract between the natural coloured wings and the bright hair is weird, but I think chaos powers can do that to you. EmperorNorton’s link to Marty is very funny.
    @Purplebeard (gnomes): I think your empire army is going to look great with all those gnomes and dwarves on ponies. The musician is my favourite.
    @iamjack42: congratulations. That’s the best miniature in this month’s tale.
    @colonel kane trine: Sorry, never heard of your band, but I will take a look at Youtube. But not right now. I suspect that it’s music that sounds best with the volume turned up high.
    Owl can spell his name ("Wol") and the word "Tuesday" (so that you know it isn't Wednesday). He can also read, although only if no-one is looking over his shoulder.

    Hey everyone - just wanted to let you know I'm still alive, despite work's best attempts. Honestly, sometimes I wonder why I became a complaints manager. Thankfully June has been a little nicer to me so I have managed to get my alloted 200pts done - Great Horned Owl has probably already seen the fruits of my labours

    Also just wanted to say well done to everyone still plugging away and submitting entries - your work ethic is to be admired and there's some lovely stuff being posted up. On a personal note, this thread has been a great motivator and I'm happy to be back in the game

    Comments time:

    @Red Skullz (O&G): Fantastic effort! I love the colours on the trolls and the cute sotling pump wagon conversion
    @Zark the Damned (DoW): You have had a productive month. Bronzino looks really good.
    @DAGabriel (CD): I like the heavy, muted red colour you've achieved there.
    @EmperorNorton (Emp): Your wizard looks very bright and fresh.
    @azhagmorglum (O&G): Lovely trolls and squigs. Great work there
    @juicytomatoes (Nippon/Halflings): Nice figure.
    @Tekore (WE): PAst 2000pts- that is brilliant. Your figures look great.
    @Great horned owl (HE): Good choice of colour scheme and very nice basing.
    @Morkash (OK): That guy looks mean. Great pose.
    @nagash66 (Dw): Nice dwarves.
    @Doi (OK): Fierce model, well done base.
    @Doi (DE): The hydra looks very sleek and sinister
    @perplexiti (Dw): I like the inventive hammerer conversions.
    @perplexiti (Liz): 40 saurus is good going. That looks like one mean little army there.

    Replies:

    @Red Skullz: Thanks very much. The Renaissance Dwarfs actually aren't old (mostly) - they're from WK Miniature Imperium. The guy loved all the old Marauder dwarfs and empire, halflings, orcs, etc. So he decided to make his own. They are gorgeous litlle models to paint. The sorceror took a fair while. I'm glad he's finished now. As for the Gnomes, I only have one more cavalryman to finish off, and then I can do some footsloggers. I'm actually looking forward to the infantry now - I'm getting a bit tired of horses/ponies

    @juicytomatoes: Thanks JT. Yes, it is a bit of a weird figure. I think of that pose as being more like a hypnotist - 'watch the finger'.

    @iamjack42: Congratulations.

    @Morkash: Cheers for the kind comments about the sorceror and the gnomes. The renaissance dwarfs are actually mostly new, with a few old Marauder ones thrown in. Confusingly, the 'Gnomes' are all ancient (from 1982ish).

    @Great horned owl: Yep, Chaos brings weirdness (well, it does sometimes). The musician is my favourite too - I greenstuffed the drums and used brass wire to make his drumstick. I am close to finishing all of the renaissance dwarf/gnome cavalry now. I'm looking forward to doing some infantry again. Or some warmachines if I can ever get hold of them....

    Re: The Tale of Fantasy Painters 2011-2012: Month 9 (May painting and June WIP)

    Just finished the table for this month. Should be up soon.

    Also I only need to finish 3 weapons and then 2 more savage orcs and I'll have my unit done! So nice update for next month.

    And for those fearing the demise of the tale, it's not true that we are painting less then in previous years. Although it is true that we have a few 'big' painters at the moment making up for having less painters. The amount of points painted each month is quite similar in the last 3 years. Here's the proof:

    Hey mate, cheers for the comments. For my Lizards I only have a regiment of Temple Guard left to do

    And my name comes from a system of a down song, I can't remember the name of the song, but it had a line in it "weeping in perplexitys arms" I just took the word and made it cooler by changing the y for a i ;P

    Basically I needed a name for COD online, and my old name "zero" kept on being taken.
