Is there a game you can play with these guys? Or is it just a collectors range?
"Revenge is a dish best served by Uma Thurman"
Yes.
Knight Models are making miniatures, not a game (Fantasy Flight Games has the lisence for Star Wars miniatures games, IIRC). However, there's no shortage of sci-fi miniatures games you could use them in.
So these will be as much of a fiddly pain in the neck to assemble?![]()
I would assume so, but the fiddliest part of the Stormtroopers was getting the two arms to line up on the tiny gun. These guys have much bigger rifles so it won't be as bad I hope. If I can get the Speeder together I'm sure I can handle them. Now I don't feel bad about not assembling all the Stormtrooper packs I amassed.
I wish they would have shown the back packs. I wonder if they will have different configurations or they will all be the same.
I did notice that the knee armor is missing the signature Sandtrooper diamond but this will work well for mixing with the Stormtroopers.
These aren't the stormtroopers were looking for...
Still waiting for my clone troopers patiently![]()

They were simple to assemble. The nightmare was getting the arms to line up on the one with the MG34 - it didn't help that the arms in the firing pose were a clumsy conversion of the arms holding it upright, and at one point, I ended up with the gun separate from the right arm and broken in two.
Is the diamond shpae on the knee a "sandtrooper" thing or a "episode 4 stormtrooper" thing? Can't say I've ever noticed it.
Knight Models updated their product lines today. From the looks of the their website they have given up the Star Wars license and axed the lines. Good luck to anyone that was interested in the Sandtroopers in actually being able to find them.
That would be a big shame... They were making some really nice models. I wonder if they had licence issues making units rather than individual characters since they were only allowed to make collectors models not ones specifically for a game?
That is a possibility. Quite a number of factors could have been attributed to the lines lack of success. High price of their miniatures, combined with the severely down economy (especially in Spain- all of Europe really, where they are based) as well as the expensive license, readily available cheap competition in the Wizards product glutting the market for every model they produced, the Star Wars Miniatures gaming fanatics having no interest in the line, or any nonprepainted models whatsoever. At least they gave it as good a run as they did and I finally got some decent multi positionable Stormtroopers and Sandtroopers. It was probably in their license that they had to dedicate a certain percentage to Prequel based product. Personally I despise anything to do with the prequels or the Star Wars expanded universe for that matter, so as much as I loved the line, I could only support half of it. Due to price I have not even bought any of the 70mm line. More to my own lack of faith in my own painting skills doing justice to a $75 miniature, than the magnificent models themselves.
It's not just Star Wars - the Marvel stuff is gone, too. Looks like they're concentrating on DC and LotR; presumably they're better sellers. Looks like I'll need to snap up a biker scout sooner rather than later.
The marvel stuff is still there. They just got some new releases in fact -3 headed Hulk. True, there are some discontinued Marvel figures, but those were limited edition 70mm and those are discontinued whenever the production runs out of product.
I almost hate to point it out, as I want to buy them all myself but don't have the funds (or time to paint them), but Maelstrom still has quite a lot of the Knight Star Wars range in stock!

Official word on their Facebook page finally puts any doubts to rest:
There have been several questions lately regarding the future of the our Star Wars line . After a lengthy evaluation, Knight Models has decided not to renew the Star Wars license with Lucasfilm. We’ve had a long and fantastic run, but with the economic downturn, we have made the tough decision to discontinue our Star Wars lines and extend the licenses we work with new products as the LOTR , DC , BATMAN films, MARVEL and more .
The license has officially ends ,while I know the news is disappointing, we wanted to make this announcement as soon as possible and thank you for being such great fans. It’s been a fantastic ride with the Star Wars community and working with Lucasfilm and you never know when we may circle back again!.
