    Are Tau Overpowered in DOW?

well, i think they are. Specially against necrons and IG, the good old skyray can unleash a real hell down there with their barrages and so.

Also the fire warriors and stealth teams once fully upgraded they DO REALLY kick some butts. In soulstorm the thing goes far worse as the barracudas are way too powerfull for an air unit (they can criple any tank or building in seconds, greatly suplementing Tau infantry). Also the hound packs are way too strong (250 DMG!!!) and if go for mont'ka one can get up to 2 Hammerheads and the crysis suits with flamers (that are actually mobile moral breakers).

Seriously, if DOW3 is going to come with Tau within (please not another expansion of DOW2 that game sucks), GW shall nerf them a little bit.

well the tau in dow2 last stand was somewhat overpowered, but he was paid for dlc so he was going to be. his release does bode well for tau in dow3 though so fingers crossed for that. i havnt played the dark crusade or soulstorm for a long time. i didnt think anyone still did.

No way. They're not balanced very well, but I'd say that (much like the Orks) poor balance is not in their favour.

The Tau have rather bad line of sight, so assuming your opponent doesn't make use of spotters (Pathfinders or Stealth Teams), then he's instantly handicapped. They also have notoriously bad anti-armour capabilities, so loading assault troops into transports/deep strike facility will really hit them hard. Again, they also have rather bad damage resistance to most forms of weaponry - as well as very weak morale. They can make short work of infantry, but they're so handicapped in a lot of ways.
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!

That's why in soulstorm they become so badass... i mean, the barracudas are way too resilient for an aircraft (with kauyon + ethereal they DO kick some ass). With 5 of them, they are superb spoters and can cripple any vehicle in a matter of seconds. Sure they are still not thaaat strong as a tank, once combined with the other troops (like kroots distracting the enemy) one can have half of the enemy vehicles blown up in a blink of an eye and not even a scratch on the yellow paint. Even Land Raiders do take a beating in such situations. The only thing that can be (i think) somehow effective against them might be daemons.

And their morale... are you sure is thaaat low? I mean, Fire Warriors have the same morale as SM's and... well that ain't thaaat low.

P.D. I forgot... kroots are superb spoters as well.

In the orginal DOW IMO I think they're are underpowered, in DOW2 last stand he's OP. You can take out nearly everything before it gets to you.

I'll be honest with you, it's been a very long time since I've played Soulstorm: I was talking about the Tau in Dark Crusade, which you picked up on. Conversely, I can't remember having trouble with them - I almost always played as either Chaos or Eldar.

They have the same morale score, but a much lower resistance.

I agree, they seem to have every base covered in having both superb high level close combat units and devastating ranged units. Although I normally play Sister's of Battle so everyone else seems over powered to me.

Well i was just talking in general (DC + SS) but dude... you have to use those barracudas, they DO REALLY kick some butt.

And if you don't krootox are also superb options.

And the AI... it's pretty silly in both games, when you play against real humans the overpower becomes more evident.
