Hehe, thanks I'll be pleased once its got some paint on it! Gotta be honest I've surprised myself with how well I did for my first time sculpting so small, gives me some confidence for future sculpts

Wow Really great sculpting. Makes my small putty enhancements fall in the shade of your vermin lord. Love to see it painted. Keep up the good work.

First off, the other pictures work for me now, and all those Rat Ogres are terrific. The modified WLC is really nice, and looks very apt.

The Vermin Lord is really well-made, and I can't fault the quality of the sculpting. I am however not a fan of the Glaive's blade, as it's a bit too... Dunno, reminds me of all those Fantasy-weapons that pop up in games and miniatures, that just seem overworked. The head is a little wide for my taste too, but is very well done nonetheless.

Fantastic stuff, especially the Vermin Lord. And that's a very cool combination of parts for the Warp Lightning Cannon. Keep it up!

@ was1974 - Thanks, and I started with small putty enhancements so I'm sure its just time, practice and patience

@ Unwanted - Glad you can see the other pics now. I completely understand what you are saying about the glaive, I went for a scaled up Stormvermin halberd look but I want it to have a rusted and corrupted feel to it, with more of a hooked blade. What style would you go for, just for curiosity's sake

@ El_Stono - Cheers There's still more bitz and stuff to do with the WLC but I'll do more with it once I've got the Vermin Lord done.

Just a quick update to show the start of the painting. Little bit splodgy but I tend to work in a more painterly fashion. VERY WIP though. VERY.

I'd have gone for a less intricate look, maybe more of a scythe-blade look, but still mounted as a speartip. I'd have kept it more in the Skaven tradition of long, slightly curved blades with a single edge, as this one reminds me of the weapons of some Rackham-minis, or even the Black Tree Design VerMen, which I lust don't like for asthetic reasons. The painting looks really cool so far, and I look forward to seeing where you'll take the painting from here.

@ Unwanted - I see what you mean, I think there are some clan rat spears that have a similar shape. I was tempted to make it look something like that but the new stormvermin halberd designs seemed more compelling at the time. I also felt something more elaborate suited a character like the Vermin Lord.

    @ pointyteeth - cheers dude

Progress has been a little slow but when using a slow dry medium to help with some smooth blending then you really can't rush. I also had to do a little "plastic surgery" as the eye on his right side was more obviously out of sync than I had realised. Paint tends to reveal the sometimes hidden flaws in sculpting. Fortunately its fixed now and looks all the better for it.

Btw if anyone reading this knows any good techniques for getting a really rich black then I'd be love to hear about it.

I'll try and get some photo's taken and posted up over the weekend, where the time has gone I just don't know.
