New to the privateer press games, starting trollbloods and could use some advice !

Hello there, so far i've only played one game with a cygnar band against a skorne band and i've loved it !

I've decided to start with trollbloods cos they're miniature wise the faction i like the most (hmmmm might get some cryx pirates next year )

So far here is what i've got off of ebay :

    - borka kegslayer and keg carrier
    - troll impaler
    - 5 champions
    - 10 fennblades + attachment
    - attachment for the kriel warriors

I'll now buy a few things in a store and i was planning to give this a try for my first game (25 pts) :

    Borka

    Dire Troll Mauler
    Troll Axer

    10 Fennblades + attachment

    Fell caller hero
    5 Troll whelps

any advice, remarks, things i might do wrong or something, let me know !

At that level and with only two beasts I'd say you probably don't need the whelps. They are a good investment for later and more beast heavy lists. Personally I'd look at a Stone Scribe Chronicler. If it was any other warlock than Borka I'd say spend the other two points on a Runebearer, but he already has an attachment with the keg carrier.

Seconding that that whelps are unneccesary. Take a chronicler instead

The only thing I'd use Whelps for is getting in the way of things. If you swapped the Axer for an Impaler you could do min champions and Min Fennblades. I think the Axer is probably of more use though.

    It is.
The Fennblades under Iron Flesh and Tale of Mist are also an excellent screen with the help of the UA.

ie. DEF17 against charges/most ranged attacks. PS12 isn't stellar but with reach you can pile on a big creature and you should be able to dent most heavies, but you really have your Mauler for that. Don't be afraid to use its animus on the axer or, say, the Fennblade officer if you want to give something a solid whack without committing your sole heavy. Fennblade officer has decent MAT (7) and with animus hits at PS15, that's a good dent on most non-khador heavies. The Axer goes up to PS17 (If someone clumps his/her jacks/beasts, this is a good way to say no) and lastly, the Fell Caller hero. Normally not all that impressive, because of low P+S, giving him +3 strength makes his attacks very respectable. As in caster-killing respectable.
