6th ed will be out in a month and change the whole equation. For a start, I'd expect a full set of rules for flyers and changes to the ways vehicles take damage so its difficult to give any constructive advice. Pick whichever model you like best or wait a month

Hmm they both have the word doom in it...
Well depends if you want static and safe. or mobile and fragile.
This will depend on the rest of the list.
Doomsday arks can be a pain as they need to be still for their big Pie o' death so placing them where they can hit something, but far enough away for safety could be an issue.
Doom Scythe can be nasty, particulaly to parking lots, but it will be shot down quickly so make it count.

On balance I'd go for the Ark, its gun is bigger, therefore it is better.

Edit: sorry completely misread your post.

The Doom Scythe is much better, IMO. I consider the Doomsday ark to be massively undergunned.

I dont really rate the ark that much for its cost its undergunned compaired to the doomscythe, its faster it carries more and its cheaper.

    Re: Necron what to pick?

I really wouldn't say that The Ark is undergunned compared to the Doomscythe.
    They are the same price:
Doomsday Ark: Doomsday Cannon + 2x 5x Gauss Guns left and right side.
    Doomscythe: Deathray + Telsa destructor.
Doomsday cannon has the advantage of a huge range, and make its presence known if you place it where it can cover some ground. Although it loses its big blast when moving, because the Gauss Guns are defensive weapons, it can still put out some shots when its forced to move

Doomscythe has a huge threat area, due to its speed, but the gun will plonk it close to the enemy so its suicide runs or picking off isolated units. The Telsa Destructor is good if your holding back before the charge.

Like I said it depends on what you are after, consider it a choice between an artilary piece or a suicide bomber

    Re: Necron what to pick?

It depends on what you want to do with it and how you compare the two.

Cost: Dead even, with no upgrades availible on either

    Offense:

    DDA:
-Doomsday Connon has a S9 pie plate with long range. This, while seeming to be great against vehicles, is actually more suited for obliterating groups of T4 (or less) infantry, or really putting the hurt on anything T7 or less. This shrinks on the move to a half-range autocannon with a blast template, limiting the offensive capabilities by quite a bit.
-The Gauss Flayer Arrays are good defensive weapons, but to use them at full effectiveness, you have to be in assault range, which negates the cannon's range.

    DS:
-Death Ray is a chart topper at S10 AP1, but as stated before, it suffers from limited range.
-TL Tesla Destructor is a solid weapon, but it isn't defensive, so movement is limited to 6-12" to fire.

    Defense:

    DDA
-AV 11 on all side with Quantum Shielding makes it quite durable, until that first pen...

    DS:
-No quantum shielding forces you to either move flat-out for the cover save, or slow down and unleash hell.

So, do you want a glass hammer or a wooden spear?
A girl once told me that the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I kindly replied that I had always thought it was through the ribcage...

    Re: Necron what to pick?

At this point in time the Ark is the better choice. Longer range, better defence, more fire power. However new edition may alter things, and a lot depends on your list. If your a foot slogging or defensive list, the Ark is probably the no brainer. If your loaded up with Veils/NS/Wraiths/Warrior transport then DS will probably be a better choice as it is keeping up with your army and on the move. Then there is personal taste. Which just seems/looks cooler too you? If they are equal, you could always take one of each.

Well decied to pick the ds and build à ghost ark whit 5 warriors.

But now i'm thinking to drop 1 spyder from the 3 i got, then I can add 4 more warriors to my ark crew.

    Re: Necron what to pick?

    Depends on a few things.
1.) Are Your necrons going to be riding in their Ark the whole match (where posible)?
2.) Is the Necron squad a Caddy for a Cryptek?
3.) Are you expecting them to hold a place for more than one turn outside the Ark?
4.) Do you have more bodies elsewhere?

If you are having 5 + cryptek, whose job it is fly about using the Str8 staff, then I wouldn't bother adding 4 more warriors.

If you are looking to fly them around and drop stuff through weight of Gauss fire then more Necrons = more gauss so perhaps.

If you are looking to dump these guys into a location, and support them with the Arks repair ability. Then more Necrons is a must. Reanimation protocols only work if the unit is still there at the end of the phase, and 5 necrons could easily be brushed away.

Gonne keep my spyder whit the claw.

The unit in THE ark is more for point cap at later turns.
