I'm going to try ironing it today, ill test a small corner before doing the entire thing

I need to revise my earlier statement about it being too expensive- I was under the impression that it was priced at $99 for some reason. At $30 the battlemat is probably the only remaining GW product that is an absolute steal.

lol its not that good! But 30 for a portable battle ground is worth it.

Also ironing did not work. The wrinkles def went down on the back side of the mat but grass still had them.

Re: Anyone buy the gw battle mat?

Thank you for helping me out as well (and BIG thanks to monkey10120 for starting this thread!). I did some internet searches and pretty much came up with what has already been suggested here, but just for reference here is one of the forums I found: http://warhammer.org.uk/phpBB/viewto...2829&view=next - with a nice large pic of the Battle Mat and a great game of Warmaster going on (always wanted to try WM out as it looks like a lot of fun and the scale looks about the same as Napoleonic... but not sure if I want to collect/invest in a whole different game yet as I still have two more whole fantasy armies to collect! *sighs*)

I personally think that the Battle Mat is a great value even with the wrinkles and some creases. Not sure I agree with Lord Dan on being an absolute steal but I definately rank it high on the GW value list.

And thanks for the ironing of the mat update, monkey10120. Makes me wonder if there is a special way to do it or setting? Wonder if getting the back of the mat slightly damp and then hanging it on a clothes line will help? Just tossing out an idea.

You can iron it. Iron the back with a tea/dish towel in between and experiment with the temperature setting Works perfectly.

    Your welcome lord Cedric

Also I tried a wrinkle remover spray for ironing. But try hanging it on a clothes line then clip weights on the bottom. I would do that if I had a line.

I used to use watered down pva in a plant sprayer as a "fixer" for the old paper grass mats. Left the grass feeling like a hedgehog . Iron it if you can, but be careful not to loosen the grass.

I just summon The Gimp to hold it down for me.

We use the mat a couple of times a year, works great. We have about 5 in mour group. Never any wrinkly issues.

I was honestly surprised at what good quality it was. I can throw a positive vote into the mix for the battle mat!

I ironed mine before gluing it down to make the table referenced in my signature. It ironed just fine. I used the high steam setting to ensure the wrinkles were all out.

My club purchased around 15 of them. The wrinklies come out by themself eventually if you leave it flat or rolled. But ironing with a tea towel between works ok. Don't overdo the steam or heat.

We have 4 for out club. The wrinkles are there but they fade with use (we store folded which puts new ones in).
We're going to take a look at some of the high detail rubber mats as well - but they're really expensive.

We bought 3 for our club and glued them with PVA to our MDF boards. Best thing we ever did.

I'm sure someone has already mentioned this but:
I, personally, have put my battle mat in the dryer for anywhere between 15 to 20 minutes, and it definitely will smooth a GW mat out. I've probably done it about 6 times (usually because I've stored the mat for a month or two after some inactivity) and it has always worked well without any damage to the material. I highly recommend it, as it's an easy fix.

Also, don't store it folded up. Just bundle it up and throw it in a box. Helps a lot.

I've got one but not much I can say thats not already been said. Put it over a table and pull it tight. Set some books on the bad creases and leave it overnight. Roll it to store it and your golden (rolling it tightly helps get the creases out too).

    I ironed mine.

I was wary at first that it would make a mess of it - but worked a treat.

Ironing works, but as others have noted, the creases seem to disappear if left out long enough anyway.

Love my mat, now the terrain has gone up, it's the best value thing they do - so, get it before they cotton on!

I have 8 in my store the wrinkles will come out if you let the mat lay flat for awhile. I store mine folded and have no problems with folds returning.
