Chaos Reigns! The last Black Crusade

Evening folks; this is going to be my blog I guess of sorts. I figured I'd start the thread while I have a moment, I shall have pictures uploaded by the time the weekend is out.

Anyway, I play Chaos (obviously), and Black Legion at that. "Egad!" you're probably thinking, "you mean he doesn't play Iron Warriors or Death Guard? Hang him from the tallest tower!" I know I know, I don't play the ever popular IVth and XIVth legions. No no, I play black legion. Amazingly, though, my army isn't all that black. My motivation was true chaos united, if the original nine were able to unite under the banner of the Eye of Horus and go show that corpse god what for! As such, I have every original legion (and a few other warbands) represented in my army. As aforementioned, I will post pictures soon of my completed models. Which includes Death Guard, Night Lords, Emperor's Children (sort of), and some proper Black Legion. So sit back, and I will be back to this shortly hopefully.

Indeed not; I just get ridiculously tired of painting the same scheme so I opted for some variety. That, and I like some of the other traitor legions too much to not have them represented in my list. Camera is charging now so pics will be up shortly. I'll say now, I'm not one of those fantastic painters like some of the other threads, but I do ok for an everyday schmuck.

Alright, you guys get some ultra high res picks. Super close ups so you can see how crappy my painting is haha. But no, I think the aperture setting on the camera really gets into the knitty gritty of the model so that's nice. Enjoy.

My Lash sorcerer; Red Scorpion Librarian model with minimal conversion and Chaos-y paint. Does good methinks; also painted by a friend of mine


My test run at the Night Lord scheme; I'm actually pretty happy with how this model looks.

Test run at my Death Guard squad scheme. I know the gold is a bit off of traditional, but I like the trim against the white. Not very dirty for a plague marine squad, but I do love how the new camoshade wash looks over the white paint. About perfect for what I want the squad to look.

Test run at my Word Bearer scheme. This and the next model were painted before I learned a few good tips so they're a little dull. Some bits from the honor guard of the librarian can be seen in use here. I do like the look of the models regardless.

And a WIP for a part of an objective I'm building. I ordered some 60MM bases to redo all of my Daemon Princes (I believe my current count is 5) but was unaware they came in packs of three. So now I have some extra bases to make objectives with; this guy will be on one of them. I need to touch up some of the high lighting and that's my first run at a plasma weapon. All together, I'm pretty happy with it at this juncture.

Heh, this is very similiar to my Chaos army, having all Legions united under the Black Legion.

I'm going with the original 9 first, but will likely expand later on for the sake of some creativity and diversity. Here is my 2000 point list: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...oints-of-Chaos
All the vehicles will be in black legion colors with some marking as to the squad inside. My obliterators will all always be Iron Warriors. As for the rest of my models and schemes; I was going to do a chosen squad in Alpha Legion special ops scheme and one robed Black Legion squad. My second plague marine squad will likely be done in The Purge paint scheme. I have a FW World Eater conversion kit coming to me that will be in the standard World Eater red (but am considering doing the champion in the old white and blue scheme, I do love it so). Of course, all 1k sons models will be in proper colors (again, maybe one or two in preheresy colors on some armor pieces, as if they never were repainted). I was going to do one noise marine squad in EC colors and the other probably in the flawless host. I do want to do a third CSM squad in standard black legion, as well. I've always toyed with the idea of doing a Fallen chosen squad with the DA conversion set. Or some Space Wolf berserkers. I may end up doing a "renegade" marine squad of some sort; I would just like every squad to have significant character.

I'm in Chaos for the long haul so I do aim to have a rather large collection. I know I want 20 of each cultist marine (for two squads), at least 3 standard CSM squads, and a bunch of armor and other stuff. I plan on going to WargamesCon this year so I will have the above list painted so this blog should be decent with updates.

Again this all sounds very good mate! Great painting along with great ideas, I'll be keeping a very close eye on this thread methinks. I actually did something similar with Fallen for my Iron Warriors army, I had one of the Chosen with 2 bolt pistols a la Cypher, which I counted as a bolter. It looks pretty bad ass.

Sorry kids, I've been up to my neck in painting to get ready for WargamesCon this weekend. Sadly, I still didn't quite manage to get everything painted. But! Everything will be tournament ready or lent to me so I shall participate. Upon my return, I will post everything that I have managed to get finished for the tournament and then will hopefully complete the last of my army decently quickly. The current tally of completed models is 2x five man plague squads, 6/10 Night Lords, 4x Rhinos, 2x Predators, 2x Daemon Princes, 1 of the terminators.

So I still have 8/10 word bearers, 5/6 terminators, Obliterators, and 4/10 Night Lords. Now that I've said that, that's still quite a bit haha. But I shall be knocking out the last of it when I feel like painting again. So update on Monday, promises. Wish me luck! Chaos Reigns!

that is... until you get a solid army core done. Then some pretty coloured marines to take down the overall uniformity of it. That's what I'm doing once I'm done with my case of BL. Once done, following up with a single carry case insert with a squad of IW, TS, and Noisemarines (the old ones if ebay gods shine on me)/ECs. Gotta mix it up, while maintaining an overall Black Legion feel to it

Plague Marine Squad number two; done with The Purge in mind. I wanted that traditional look with black armor pieces for the sake of tying it into the Black Legion fold.

My favorite model out of that squad; the work on the sword isn't too bad either.

My 1,000 point list for the WarGamesCon team tournament. I allied with my buddy Tom who rolled two Tervigons, two large Genestealer squads (17 and 18 if memory serves), and Death Leaper for psyker annoyance. We went undefeated at the tournament, but didn't get a massacre our last game and thus kept us 9 points out of reach of the winner. Overall though, I was pretty satisfied with how the day went. My predators each killed a land raider our first game so they've proven their worth to me.

Some close up shots of my more custom Daemon Prince of Slaanesh. Painted and green stuff'd by a friend of mine, I just made the torso and lade out the blue print.



The Night Lords I finished; I very much ran out of time so I didn't get all of them. I borrowed some Black Legionaries from a friend for the sake of the tournament.
