    Fanny's Necron PLog

Hello and welcome to my Necron Painting Log!

After many abortive attempts, I've finally found a Necron scheme that I'm happy with. I wanted them too look old, but not rusty, so I opted for bronze. I'll put up a tutorial when I paint my next Warrior. I chose yellow for my accent as is I have not seen it before used on Necron and also because it is a colour that I don't get to paint very often.

Anyhow, on with the pictures. Here is my first completed model, a Necron Warrior.

WIP of the Monolith. Some of you may have seen this before in my 40K Painting Log. However, as my army has got quite large, these guys need a log all of their own.

Next up will be a Tomb Blade. I love these models, though so far they have proved to be quite tricky to put together. There are lots of parts that should really be left off when painting and lots of these are quite fiddly.

Same here, yours is the first one I've seen other than my own.

Love the glow effect and the edging on the Monolith.

    Re: Fanny's Necron PLog

After a short break from my Necron, I've decided to show them a little attention. I've abandoned the yellow from previous pictures and I am now looking for a new colour scheme. I'll post pics later with my ideas.

I also want to try something a little different for my bases. Something like this:

Size:	253.9 KB
ID:	164298

I figure that, with the bases I want to do, they would look good being painted corroded, but I still want to try something that isn't seen too often.

    Wish me luck

Monolith looks fantastic. Would love to see some other vehicles done up like that.

I tried the vehicle scheme out on a Tomb Blade and it just didn't work, in fact it looked terrible

    Re: Fanny's Necron PLog

Well, I decided to stick with the yellow Here is my first fully painted model for the army. Very happy with this.

My troops are all going to be painted in the rust colour. Lychguard and Praetorians etc will be the same as the Immortals gun and they will have shiny weapons. Lords etc will be all shiny and new. Vehicles...well I'll cross that bridge when I come to it

I really like your bases, sulfuric desert is something you don't see often, for sure! It's imho agreat alternative to the more wide spread lava-bases in terms of "Seriously dangerous terrain" and it makes a great contrast. Plus it's the perfect way to play with different yellows .

I like the corroded scheme very much and liek I said before amtches well with the bright marbled yellow bases. TbH I'd liek you to stick with the monolith's scheme, it looks incredible, just like the invincible material, necronvehicles are made of. Could you post the tomb blade nevertheless, please, maybe I can convince you to not alter it .

    Re: Fanny's Necron PLog

Thanks for the comments! With the Monolith being living metal, I will probably continue painting it as it is The Tomb Blade was just awful so it got stripped immediately

That Immortal is freaking excellent. I really like it. What color did you use for the body?

Mate, you must really hate your Eldar, working on both great enemies of that ancient pointy-eared race! Very cool scheme though, and great painting as always!

    Re: Fanny's Necron PLog

    Thanks for the comments everyone

    A tutorial for the bases.

    Step 1

Glue a small stone onto the base and glue on sand, leaving a gap for the acid.

    Step 2

Paint the stones and sand with Averland Sunset.

    Step 3

Drybrush with Flash Gitz Yellow and then Hexos Palesun.

    Step 4

Paint Dorn Yellow (or a mix of Hexos Palesun and Lahmian Medium) around the edges of the acid pool and in patcheson other parts of the base.

    Step 5

Paint Seraphim Sepia over the stones and in patches on other parts of the base.

    Step 6

Paint a mix of Loren Forest and 'Ardcoat into the acid pool. This may take a couple of coats to get even coverage. Then paint a final layer of 'Ardcoat over the acid. Finally paint Castellan Green around the edge of the base and you're done.
