Deployment

At the beginning of the game, we were unsure how deployment worked for demons. I said that if you deploy stuff you could only deploy 2 troops and 1 HQ. We were unsure whether this affected his deepstrikes and how it worked. He is fairly new to demons, and was not aware of the deployment for dawn of war. This is partially my fault aswell, because the way I worded my explanation I think he interpreted it as "you have to deploy an hq and 2 troops. Either way I do not play much dawn of war so the rules were a bit fuzzy.

He deployed his HQ and two of his troops like so.

I chose to leave my stuff in reserve hoping that everything rushing onto the table at once would overwhelm him.

Demons turn 1

His first turn consisted of maneuvering his units, and trying to get them into a good position.

Blood Angels turn 1

Everything comes on the table. I decide to push the left flank, only sending one baal to flank around. All of my vehicles being fast makes my force very mobile.

Just about everything in my force fires at the herald of tzeentch. Knocking 4 wounds off him! He only just survives with 1 wound!

The baal predator on the far right decides to shoot at the horrors, managing to kill 1.

Turn 1 review

Managing to do 4 wounds to his HQ was pretty good. So far so good. The next turn is where the battle is won or lost imo. If he gets his deep strikers in and manages to pop a few vehicles, the game could swing in his favour. I need to stay on the offensive and hit him where it hurts!

Demons turn 2

Luckily for me, my opponents intended first wave, did not arrive. The units that arrived were some flamers, some horrors, and a group of blood letters, lead by a herald of khorne! All of them arrived directly where they were intended. My opponent's herald of khorne decided to get out of there! , he had learned his lesson! The squads that deepstriked all ran to spread out, although I lack any real template weapons. My opponent's shooting phase consisted, of the flamers attempting to glance the nearby rhino, actually managing to shake it! The Herald of tzeentch also fired at the storm raven (btw the Land raider is proxying as the storm raven) which failed to do anything.

Blood Angels turn 2

Knowing that my opponent's army was at it's weakest, due to it's reserves. I knew that the battle could be won in this turn. My death star unit was dropped out of the storm raven! The Terminators lead by the librarian, and the sanguinary priest disembarked, along with the mighty (and cheesy ) furioso dreadnougt. My Baals moved up their respective flanks. The tactical squads held their position, waiting for the time to either advance, or lay down some suppresing fire!

In the shooting phase, my 1 baal predator was able to finish off the herald of tzeentch. Giving me a valuable lead in terms of kill points. My tactical squads fired at the flamers, managing to finish them off!
My Librarian decided to cast Blood Lance, but unfortunately failed, losing a wound from perals of the warp. which if it had gone off would have hit 9 demons!

Assault! The Dreadnought charged into the Blood letters, massacreing a large number of them them, unfortuantely there is nothing they can do! Blood talons are pure evil! The terminators just about did the same thing, killing a huge number of horrors, surprisingly the horrors hit back and kill a terminator!

turn 2 review

At this point in the game I was feeling pretty confident. I was inflicting large number of casualties to the demons. The fact that my opponent's intended first wave did not come in gave me a massive advantage, and it sure shows. The battle is not over yet though. He still has a large number of heavy hitting Demons in reserve. It's still anybodies game.

To be continued
