The highs (and lows) of E3 2012

Well most of the clips/videos/press conferences are online now and have probably been viewed to death, so what were your thoughts on the highs and lows of E3 2012?

I'll start with Sony as I'm not big on the other consoles...

    Highs:-

Gameplay footage including naval combat of AC3

GoW ascension - standard GoW fare but looked good

Beyond: Two Souls - this looks to surpass all that has gone before!!

The Last of Us - gameplay footage looked great!!!

    Lows:-

Did Sony forget they launched Vita???? There's been about 3 decent games released since launch, NONE of the promised features yet work (taking ps3 games mobile and carrying on where you left off, ps1&2 & psp compatabilty) also ps vita support on EU ps store has consisted of a couple of extra cars for motorstorm and a few basic games that would be at home on iPhone (and probably be either free or cost 69p!) then to top it off vita got basically nothing at E3!!!

GoW ascension, seriously Sony we all knew and saw screens already!

Quite a weak show for Sony, Xbox and Nintendo IMO, nothing exciting unveiled that we didn't already know about really.

I was hoping to hear about:-

    Dante's Inferno 2
The rumoured TMNT game by the Batman Devs

Yep, it's all about Planetside 2 this year. Paid no attention to anything else

Watch dogs from Ubisoft caught my eye. Gta plus hacking and decent combat, it looked interesting. But yeah, the big 3 didn't pull out anything that wowed me. Probably all working on the next gen.

If the TMNT game is console only I'll be really cranky. If I wanted a console I'd damn well have bought a console already.

I was quite pleased to see some E3 footage of Neverwinter, somehow I missed that there was a Forgotten Realms MMO in development. Looks decent so far, hoping Cryptic deliver.

Re: The highs (and lows) of E3 2012

One thing I noticed is that all the new franchises/original concepts are being held for the next gen consoles so all we're getting for the next year or so is sequels that said there's a few I'm looking forward to. Unfortunately they are still getting released at the same time or near enough and that means I won't get to play some of them.

    Looking forward to:
GoW: Ascension - more of the same but that's all I want, finally new enemy models the old ones were getting boring bring on the elephant man. I'm glad multiplayer is a totally separate mode and it looks like a bit of fun - I generally don't like online multiplayer.
Dead Space 3 - The co-op worries me as apparently you won't get to see all of the game without it but at least the online multiplayer has been scrapped.
Resident Evil 6 - they've gone so far from the original game at this stage that said I liked 4 and 5 so I'm looking forward to 6.
I'm deliberately avoiding anything to do with Assassin's Creed 3 as I don't want it spoiled before i play it - I have all of the games and enjoy them although Revelations was the first one I didn't complete every single part of as I lost interest after finishing the ,main story
Watch dogs looks impressive from the little I've seen of it

Square Enix Luminous Engine looks impressive the demo shown is apparently real time no pre renders and yet it looks like the CGI cut scenes from current games. Star Wars 1313 has apparently running on Unreal 3 and not 4 as was thought. There's still a good bit to get out of the current gen yet.

Rocksteady have said that they are not working on a TMNT game.

Boo, it would have been great. Probly going to get some silly Superman thing instead.

Best news from E3 for me was that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron will be getting a PC release.

Loved the first game and it was killing me that the awesome looking sequel might not get a PC release - very happy to see High Moon studios relent and once again include the PC market.

I think it will be interesting to see where Microsoft’s SmartGlass goes. Seeing is it will be on Android and iOS, as well as Windows Phone, it will have a huge potential install base. The Wii U will surely do multi-screen gaming in a better co-ordinated fashion, it also sounds like it’ll be expensive and relatively underpowered, so it remains to be seen how well that console does.

I have to say Dawnguard and 1313 are both looking great, and thought I hate to say it, Halo 4

Microsoft smartglass sounds like an amazing prospect, if it really is as slick as the presentation..

The low point, well has anyone heard about what they have done with Tomb Raider franchise? To keep it family friendly and PnR free, its...interesting. I hope the guy interviews poorly.

That's a real shame, I was told that it was going to be really gritty and brutal
I'm getting overly excited over AC3 love that franchise, jst need to scrap up some money and pre-order the 'Live or Die' special edition

Judging by the gameplay video of Tomb Raider it is going to be gritty and dark in places.

Only things that really grabbed my attention at E3 this year was the new Transformers and Dead Space sequels. Wasn't much interested in anything else I saw or heard about.

Gritty and dark? I'd say it goes beyond that and is both disgusting and gratuitous.
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!
