My quest for retail justice

Apologies with the title, but I am looking for advice for an issue I have.

I went into a toymaster today. For those outside Ireland and the UK, this is a toyshop. This local store to me (in Ireland, not the UK) had a small selection of warhammer stock. I got a friend who text me they are selling it at half price as they are discontinuing the line, which seemed like a golden opportunity to me. That was about three weeks ago, and I am pretty sure he bought something with that in place. I went in today, and browsed through the stock. I asked my girlfriend to ask at the counter about the discount, as I was looking through the shiny kits. My gf came back and said it was indeed 50 percent off.

I go up to the counter, with a bunch of space marine stuff (yeah spehs mehrines!), and they clock it all up, at full price. I said politely 'Is there not a discout on those.' The lady at the counter, who was different to the one my gf spoke to (the one she spoke with was nowhere in site) then took a discount off, and said it was 20% off, I asked if it was not 50% and she said no. A little bit frustrated, and very disappointed, I simply smiled and said I would leave it, and left.

I am not sure what exactly happened, but want that stuff at 50 percent off, I just am not sure how to go about it. I could go in a different day and hope someone else is working, or make a complaint, I dunno, I just wanted some cheap minis. It got my hopes up with the 50% then I dunno, it was just a downer.

They've got an upto 50% sale on in participating stores.

GW stuff on the site does appear to be a little bit cheaper than GW stuff from the GW site, not 20% off though and certainly not 50% off sadly.

Thing was the shop in particular said they had a 50% discount, then changed it to 20% after saying otherwise, I was just trying to come up with a good way of getting 50% off, like going in another day someone else is working, or something.

My local toymaster sold all their GW stuff off at 50% but that was a year ago.

I'd simply query it and tell them that you were told it was 50% off, see what they say. Have they not got a sign up? Mine did

No sign was up, which I think is the problem. I might ring them tomorrow and ask like you suggest.

Yep many moons ago until the rampant abuse on there and shoddy lack of moderation forced me to quit for my own sanity!
