Like with the Deff Koptas, I think it was partly a factor of the starter box contents. Now that the box is due to change, I can easily see GW releasing a nobs/flash gits set at some point.

    Edit:
Of course there is the current nobs box which I forgot about. Though GW will only make a new one if the current kit has recouped it's development costs.

Kommandos are Tank Bustas are admittedly not well suited for a dual kit, as one is a shooty unit and one is a sneaky unit. But if they buffed Tank Bustas a bit, to use Nob style bodies, they could pair them with Flash Gitz to put two shooty units in one box.

Fair point - whereas probably 80% plus of the finished infantry in my army is metal, and I have a lot of unpainted metal on hand as well.

I suppose if the bulk of my stuff was newer plastics, I wouldn't be quite so happy with the old 2nd edition mega nobs

They could always release a new codex where Meganobz are only 3+ save but much cheaper, encouraging Ork players to buy more of them from a new plastic kit (hard to see what they would make it double as though if they are going down the dual use kit route...theres nothing remotely like meganobz. They could introduce something I suppose (giganobz? Maybe making Ard Boyz and Meganobz on the same kit?)

Meganobz are the Ork versions of Terminators. They will sell fine as is.

If you want a dualkit to go with 'ardboyz, why not skarboyz?

    Firstly, thanks Stick, always nice.

Well, I for one will be into these, except the finecast ones of course, cos finecast still sucks.

Plastic meganobs, definatly, even with my 6 metal ones I couldnt pass up this sort of boxed set. Buggies, always fun, and with new kits to mix with the old ones it only helps to make theork horde look even more random and ramshackle.

    Better save some pennies!

Re: Ork wave prep for Spring 2013

Hmm....having recently gotten back into my Orks I better start saving as I want every kit on this list! Possibly multiple times....really hope this pans out!

Are Ork players who have already found a substitute for units that GW haven't made yet (whether that be old metal models, or conversions), really going to splash cash they are probably short of on new models when GW finally get around to releasing them?

Firstly, I am insanely jealous of those lovely RT Nobz...

I know several vets with massive collections that will buy the new kits even though their armies are for all intents and purposes "complete" - the modelling options alone will encourage a few new models to squeeze in and new lists to be made to accomodate these new figures.

Personally, I like mixing the old and the new - the ramshackle look and different sizes & styles is highly fitting for Orks and for me unites the army more than having everything the same, especially for vehicles such as buggies.

@Sheena - Thanks for the compliments about the old Meganobs.

As to the new ones: I can see that nice new models will be tempting, but 40K is my second gaming period - I'm mostly an Ancients player using Field of Glory in 15 and 25mm.

What with the orks, plus eleven 15mm and three 25mm Ancient armies, I have more stuff than I'm likely to finish painting in my lifetime (I'm 56) and these days there doesn't seem enough cash to keep the family fed at the end of the month, let alone buy more games stuff.

So I will admire the new releases, but carry on converting and painting the stuff I have on hand!

Re: Ork wave prep for Spring 2013

At the risk of thread necromancy, I was looking through the latest white dwarf at the plastic mega armoured nobz on page 75. I looked at the models on the gw sales page to compare. The ones on GWs page only have bionics on the right side of their skulls, yet in the magazine there is a model with left side bionics. The paint jobs are subtly different as well. I don't have metal ones to compare so I can't say for certain, but could these be new plastics in plain sight?

Re: Ork wave prep for Spring 2013

More likely a different variant that is not on GW's site anymore.

As for sales, 2+ armored models got a major boost in 6th, so should sell well.

That and meganobz are gross this edition; so they can't run/over watch etc, they can move 6 in in the movement phase as well as stand up to power weapons, so I think there will be good demand for this kit

How does the new finecast release of Meganobz effect this wave?

Not much in my opinion. Finecast seems pretty easy for GW to do, and it's not like they haven't put out a metal kit and quickly replaced it with plastic in the past.

Not much. It depends on how much stock they had left, when they predict replacements in plastic, and in some cases the style. If the new plastic ones are somewhat different, they may keep the old ones as collectors models.

Noooo failcast upgrades! But I would still probably end up buying half a dozen...

Otherwise I would love myself a box or two or three of meganobz.
