This goes against GW's trend of turning metal into fine cast.

There is already a model for mega armoured nobz and deffkopta.

Which makes me wonder why they would replace the models with brand new plastics?

We have rumours of darkelve executioners old metal range going fully finecast?

Like the Hive Tyrant, right? Not having evidence to the contrary, is not evidence of a trend.

To the question of what is released in the coming months. I think other people have pretty much told you everything that is coming. And I either cannot or will not comment on that.

Re: Ork wave prep for Spring 2013

GW's policy is to get rid of metal as fast and economically as possible. I believe they would choose to be entirely plastic if they could, but have been using resin as a cheaper alternative to the develop cost of new plastics. Simply going from metal to finecast doesn't generate that much interest from the consumer as a new release. But going from an existing metal or finecast model to a plastic kit can generate a lot of sales.

EDIT: Thanks for the rumours, SM. Glad to see the concept of waves is not going away. I wouldn't really call this a mini-wave. That's a lot of cool figs.

I was looking for clarification, as I've been stuck in the WFB threads for years not looked at anything 40k wise since 8th ed WFB release.

It's was only the mention of new Ork model that brought me stumbling through the thread.

I wasn't doubting your rumours I was questioning a change in the company's approach to its model range.

We are seeing a few additions to codex and WFB army books that we never really had a few years back it was your book and that's it till your next book.

Good for Orks. I am considering them as my 3rd army, but I would want lots of buggies and half tracks and the current models are quite bad. And thanks for the rumors. However, I am sad that in all this new stuff coming there is no mention at all of anything for IG. Isn't that one of the biggest selling armies?

Because I don't want to be stuck with a plastic kit with practically no wargear options (and consequently, a unit entry with practically no wargear options in the next Codex) for the next decade.

Meganobz are a prime candidate for a serious redo in the next Codex with an updated unit entry and accompanying multi-part kit, maybe even dual weapon options like Lychguard and such.

Depending on how its done, poach bits from the Nob box set. Or, if the Furies rumour is true perhaps the entry is updated in WD some time as I agree it is pretty bland at the moment.

Cheers for the rumours. Sounds like a good wave, especially if there really are three in a single box, this does make me wonder if they will become somewhat smaller. Also it would make them more feasible (money wise) to run bigger units.

They might get a white dwarf update - alternate Meganob gear or some such rot.

With Orks, GW typically seems happy to cram extra options in - we'll see though.

With 6th ed looming that will make the assault on black reach box obsolete by o(r)ctober, thus a plastic kit with all options for deffcoptas is fitting early 2013.

The buggy/trakk rumour is interesting - presumably one completely new combined kit not inheriting any parts from the extremely elderly existing kits. Makes sense for GW too - one combined kit to stock instead of two.

Really looking forward to plastic meganobs.

@Chranos: It's similar to how GW handled the Goblin Spider Riders from the Battle for Skull Pass box.

We don't know the contents of the 6th ed box, the demons wave or the 2nd flyer wave but we know this release in such detail?

I'd love it to be true but I just don't buy it sorry. But thanks for posting it anyway, I do enjoy a good Ork discussion

Jeeze! Really, you don't know what's coming? Where have you been? Myself and other rumor bringers have been pretty prolific for the past few months....this "rumor lockdown" caused by the Hobbit is really causing a lot of fuss!

    Rumored Daemon wave:
Plague bearers (5x box) Plastic. Priced as pink horrors
Furies (5x box) plastic. Priced as de scourges
    Blue scribes (finecast)
    Herald of nurgle (finecast)
Maybe a little surprise here too...
Plastic GDs are done, rumored to have pieces to build named GD as variants ( though not expected til 2013)

    Rumored flyer wave:
    De bomber
    Eldar fighter
    Tau fighter
(go look at relevant thread for details)

    Rumored box set contents:
    Marines
    Chaos
( go look at relevant thread for details)

    Rumored next Codex:
    Chaos Space Marines
( go look at relevant thread for details)

    Rumored July release:
    6th Ed hard back
    6th Ed special edition
Limited templates, game aids, and what not for 6th edition...
( go look at relevant thread for details)

Edit: corrected buggies and koptas, those are 1 per, In a sentinel size box. Had incorrect price points too... Still expensive.

This is what I look forward to the most.

I'd be very surprised, and disappointed, if Plaguebearers were only five to a box. I don't have the DoC Army Book to hand but I'm pretty sure they're a minimum 10 man unit. As far as I'm aware, if this does turn out to be true, it will be first time you will need more than one plastic kit to make a bare minimum unit.

Plaguebearers should be 10 to a box, just like all the other troop daemons.
Furies look fun. Maybe with decent models, they will get some use. Well, maybe with decent rules too.

MANs! Awesome! that Ork list takes care of pretty much the remainder of the ancient ork models.
Too bad if Deff coptas are one to a box. Would have liked to see a 3 pack.
I assume the flash gitz pack is an upgrade for Nobz?

I think all the scoring Daemon Troops are min-5 in the army list.
