Avatars of War on GW flickr pool

If you look at the flickr gallery in the blog of GW, you can see a AoW Chaos Lord. I know it is not the first time they show models or components that are not Citadel products, but I have never seen it being so obvious before.

    LOL

    Agreed.

Also, OP gains minus points for use of "LOL".

Re: Avatars of War on GW flickr pool

I wonder if people would make fun of Avatars of War for posting pictures of their models with GW product in the background.

"Make fun of" would be nice "start litigation against" is more likely when it comes to GW product.

Most certainly not. But then, Felix has specifically stated that he invites people to play his games with competitor's minis. If Avatars of War aren't the best models for the game, he openly welcomes alternatives.

So that when they fix it, skeptics can still see screenshots.

It's more of the way GW handles it - the picture may or may not vanish, but I do remember an old "What's New Today" with a War Altar conversion featuring an Avatars of War Priest. That picture did not last long on the site, if memory serves correctly.

They must have fixed it already. In fact - when I looked at the link they posted to last years entries - I noticed that one of the chaos armies was the same one they had on this year entries. It makes me wonder if they didn't pull the whole army that had the AoW guy in it and plop in last years chaos army as a placeholder.

Still there for me. Isn't it in the bottom righthand corner of the Flickr Pool?

Whoops - you're both right, I was looking in the article and not the flicker. Though it makes me wonder why they used the same one two years in a row now.

Surprisingly as of this posting, it's still there too.

Are you sure that Slaanesh army didn't get bigger since last year? I remember it too, but sometimes they'll feature the same army over and over again in their blog if it gets bigger. Admittedly, it's strange.

Nope - the first pic is identical. See for yourself. At the start of today's blog there's a link to last year's blog for AoP (I clicked it to see the lizardmen).

I doubt they will 'fix' it, they really don't care as much as Warseer thinks they do. You see people claiming that they removed the Eldar with Scibor (or somewhere) bases, but they are still there. Ditto for the occassional Mantic and Reaper model, though I admit they are usually in the background and hard to spot.

More importantly, for Games Workshop to remove a picture would force them to acknowledge the existence of a legitimate competitor

"Look, Geoffrey! A chaos model from another company!"
    "Where is it Percival?"
    "Right there!"
    "Where? Behind that peasant sculpture?"
"No, no! You're looking at it!"
"Oh! It is the peasant sculpture!"
    *Laughter*

Well they acknowledged Scibor or whoever it was with the bases so that doesn't quite follow either.

Slightly off-topic, but yesterday there was a Zoanthrope-style alien from Troll-forged miniatures on the GW blog.
    It is still there.
