Historical Infantry (~1400-1500) with Two-handed weapons?

    Good evening dear historical players,
I browsed through various companies' ranges which roughly play in the above timeframe. Perry's excellent plastics are during this time as well as the War of the Roses which I really like. I'm not sure for which game I want to use the figures, maybe just as a showcase army...which would be insanely cheap compared to WHF or even KoW.

Anyways, enough self revelation, do you know any models in this rough timeframe (doesn't have to be historically 100% correct as I might use them for KoW or maybe even WHF) with twohanded weapons? I love the looks of infantry with Bihanders, for example GW's Greatswords or the older Teutogen Guards with their Warhammers, are there similar miniatures from historical manufacturers?

I'm a bit confused by the mass of companies which offer historical miniatures, but I guess Landsknechts with Bihanders or Doppelsöldners could be good starting points.

    Can you help me?

    Thanks alot you two!

bigshep, do you have any experience with Old Glory? The shop looks abit dubious.^^

But these Artizan Design figures are really beautiful, might fetch some...

Edit: And the Dismounted Knights are fantastic... hard to decide between them and Artizan!

Old glory are a fine reputable company that have been around donkeys years. The company is American, but the UK operation is in Northern Ireland. Their website is a bit clunky but ok. The only issue is the lack of pictures and you tend to get a few odd (ala airfix) poses per pack, but for the price they are a good way to bulk out armies.

Artizan are a very good company, though a bit on the large size for 28's, so may look a bit big in comparison to perry plastics. Though if you are after flamboyant two handers then you can't go wrong.

Front rank are another great company, and you can buy individual figures which is a plus. They compare well size wise with Perry, though they may be slightly thicker in the body/ankle/arm department, which is a good thing as armour really does bulk a guy up. I had a chat with some WOTR re-enactors at Arundel castle the other weekend, the amount of layers under the plate is bonkers. You are looking at around 5 layers of linen, wool, padded jack and even chain before the plate goes on! Having painted shed load of Perry's they do look a little thin sometimes.

I forgot about Renegade Miniatures, they do do some WOTR and the battalion pack of 24 metal for £18 is very good, they do do deals sometimes (buy 3 packs get one free for example) so are good to watch out for.

    hope that helps

Mirliton produces the old Grenadier Fantasy Warriors range, and the humans in this range are largely based on late 15th century Europe rather than being actual fantasy models. They make a few nice dismounted knights in full plate with (quite hefty) two-handed weapons, such as these:

Re: Historical Infantry (~1400-1500) with Two-handed weapons?

Hmm, if I do not mix the units the slight differences in scale and size should not be too obvious I hope.

I'm still amazed by some prices (coming from a WHF background), like the High Command of Azincourt from the Perrys: 8 excellent figures for 15€!

Really looking forward to put my hands on some miniatures here...FireForge's Teutogic Knights are equally amazing, but they'd looks massively out of place, I guess...

    Thanks for your help, guys!
