IG scratch building Tanks, Aircraft and my regular Army

Hey there,
two weeks ago I started with Scratch Building. Just to make a sure myself that I can do it and of course to safe some cash.

Iīm going to post lots of my wip and finished Scratch Stuff and Iīll post as well my regular Guard things.

At first I`ll show you my tools.





The first project was the ground part of Chimera, wasnīt sure what it will later be a Griffon, Basilisk, Hydra or something like this.
It came out pretty well for the first one ever built.





While the Chimera was sucksfull I started working on three Leman Russ.



And one build up, the sponsons are missing at the moment.



The other two Leman Russ are already finished, I just didnīt manage to take some pics.

So managed to take the Pics of the two finished Leman Russ.

The next Project will be 3 Hydras. I need to take down all those flyers, which pop up everywhere.
I looked at thousands of AA vehicles and i came out with this one as inspiration. At first I only want to build the touret and but it on classic Chimera.


I made a simple 3D Sketch of it, to see how can i build it easily. Iīm not very pleased with it. Any suggestions?

Mascharius - Very nice, I really like the painted leman russ and the hydra. I think that GW went for a more boxy diesin while yours is sleek. The sketch is good, but when you build it be sure to put on some stoage and crew.

Extremely impressive, considering the Leman Russes are scratchbuilt!
I also like your Hydra concept, damn, I might actually have to steal that. If you make something that looks like that, I'll be thoroughly impressed.

Though, as Dudde said, you might want to add some crew or stowage to the finished turret, heck, even a tow cable would be good as a kind of "filler". It would look a bit flat with no details on it!

Yes there will be stowage, crew, camo netting and all that stuff. I donīt like them "clean".

Damn itīs really not easy to make a proper gun fitting. Took me very long.
I made a new sketch and i think that i will build it like that. Of course with rivets and more details everywhere. Iīm just to leasy to draw them all.



What schould i use as targeting advise?

So I did some building. I stopped at this stage of the turret, because I want to build in the gun mount before closing it.



I made some Pictures with it on the Chimera. I think I will use the turret design for Medusas and Earthshakers as well.




And on a Lema Russ, looks stupid.





And something normal. Painted my first two Sentinels for the Airbourne Guard. The number three misses his pilot, he will be standing in front of it, smoking.

So I nearly finished the turret, only the guns are still missing.
They should be in the mail by tomorrow.
I can say that Iīm very pleased with the result and that I will build two more.
With all those new flyer stuff I need some defence ;-)

So some time passed.

I finished the Hydra number two. Didnīt manage to make some more work in progress pictures.
But here we go with the finished one. The silver on the bolts and stuff is a bit bright, itīs only in the pic.





So tell me what you think.

The next Hydra will get a little change in the base.
I think it looks mor dynamic.



So tell whatīs in your mind.
