Since Mantic has a wonderful online presence and response time, I was thinking it might be a fun idea to start a thread with possible concepts for designs for some of the unreleased models for the various official army lists. This shouldn't be viewed as a "Give me this exact design or else!" but rather as a place to propose concept ideas for the modelling team that might be fun or usable in multiple settings.
Here are my ideas, in no particular order, and I encourage others to post their unit ideas as well!
Revenant Cavalry/Soul Reavers:
While the standard for this seems to be units mounted on undead/skeletal horses, a cool alternative might be for the models (For one unit or the other. Not sure which would be more appropriate) to be mounted on large wolves. This would be useful as the original unit (And proxies for the GW analog), but also could be used as a stand-in for Dire Wolves and mounts for Space Wolf Thunderwolf Cavalry.
Valkyrs:
Mechanical badgers or lizards (Some kind of squat, 4-legged thing) would be cool but possibly awkward. What might be easier and cleaner looking, while still being unique, would be to have them mounted on some kind of atv, either 4-wheel or with two wheels in front and a tread in back similar to a snowmobile, and possibly with an attachable platform for BFGs.
Krudger on Slasher:
This would be cool to have the ork mounted on some kind of wyrm, probably iron-plated with plenty of spikes. What could be an impressive take on a "mounted" model would be to have the wyrm's maw open wide (Possibly held open by iron bars or something) and with the krudger riding and directing it from the inside of the mouth, possibly with a bridle attached to what passes for the beast's tongue.
Brokkrs:
Please give them mohawks. Especially if they're wearing helmets, build the mohawk into the armor similar to the beard-design built into the stormrage vet armor.
Death Stalker Simulacre:
A giant spider-golem (Or some other insect) made from sharp blades and edges. If possible, something that has a hollow shell of blades over some kind of central crystal or phylacetry or something would be awesome (Forming "ribs" in the abdomen area over the inner object). It'd be somewhat difficult to paint, but would look amazing.
Cursed Pharoh:
I know it's not reflected in the model's profile, but giving him wings formed by his bandages would be amazing. Or at least some kind of flowing cape. This would also be a cool alternative Undead Standard Bearer, with a mummy holding a standard made from his bandages which wind up the banner pole.
Forgeguard:
Each dwarf riding in his own mini-robot suit (Like a miniature eldar war walker or dreadknight sans baby carrier appearance). Doesn't matter to me if the most of the pilots torso is visible or just the head or a similar cockpit, but a small-size robot would be a fun addition, and form a nice visual blend between the iron ancestor and the stormrage vets that doesn't come off as a dwarfy terminator (It would also allow for the creation of a dwarvish Tau proxy army by using them for Crisis suits)
