    Question about FW Minotaurs.

    Hello

I am a fantasy player who wants to restart 40K after 5years or so. I played 4th ed Imperial guards.
Now with the coming release of 6th edition I want to start a SM 'Minotaur chapter' as I really like what FW is doing with them.

What rules should I use? The SM codex or is there a Minotaur list in one of the Badab books?

    Thank you.

I think they were rumoured to be in the next IA book as some sort of necron v space marines with a smattering of Orks.

    So now is the time!

AFFAIK they're in the IA10 badab war book so far.

There is no alternate list. Their Chapter Master (Moloc) is in IA:X though. Basically, he allows you take Chapter Tactics that gives you Preferred Enemy: Space Marines (though only against Imperials... not Chaos Marines of any stripe).

In sum, you should build the force out of Codex: Space Marines... if you want Moloc, you'll have to get the IA book... but he's only really interesting when facing other Imperial Space Marines. Most of the time a generic commander will be more helpful as PE:SM will lose you Combat Tactics.

    Cheers,

On one hand that's good because your most common enemy will be Space Marines. On the other Space Marines still lack decent combat units so it doesn't really advantage you.

IA also includes rules for a Minotaur Chaplain though (the mini comes together with the Chapter Master as a single pack, £30 the pair I think). Awesome models even if you don't always use them in games.

Although, there are plenty of other decent IA SM character rules in the Badab books which you can 'count as' Minotaur characters... including one which allows Terminators to count as scoring units (the rule is called 'Terminator Attack' and is NOT chapter tactics hence you keep Combat Tactics too). Think his name is Mordaci Blaylock (?). You could also use him alongside a 'chapter tactics' character and benefit from both special rules (e.g. taking Shrike would give you fleet, scoring terminators... Kantor would mean both Sternguard & Terminators are scoring & stubborn... Vulkan would give your scoring termies master-crafted thunder hammers... you get the pic).

Or take him and Sicarius, benefit from both their special rules, AND keep combat tactics

Ah, quite... forgot about Enkomi (Minotaurs Reclusiarch)... +2A on the charge for an assault or vanguard squad could be very decent.

Blaylock can be fun for sure... running him alongside Moloc him alongside could be great fun for maximum termie madness vs. 'nilla marines. Usually overspending on termies leaves you struggling to find scoring units, but with this gruesome twosome, you can lay down the pain and claim objectives no problem.

Probably not advisable below at least 2000 points though... dual LR anyone?

    Cheers,

    The Good Doctor.
