At least, I'm guessing this is what it is. Feel free to delete/merge if this is old news or duplicate thread :P

jeez. I can't believe I missed that the VI was part of the date. Panicked and thought it was set for december 23rd. But it makes alot of sense if you put the date: day/month/year. which we americans some how have as: month/day/year
99% sure it's when pre-orders go up, as it's the same release date as WD.
It's oddly soon, isn't it? I mean, it's hard to imagine that the date is anything else, but at the same time it's odd to release it half way through a month with no hint of it in that month's white dwarf.
I had been thinking that the warhammer world open day on the 14th of July would be the release date. Seems that's probably not the case.
Still, are they really releasing a new edition of 40k with just a teaser 2 weeks prior? Really?
Hmm I was hoping it really would be more like mid-July as my big raise will kick in then...

Nah, this will be preorders/the unveiling. The WD is out the same day, expect it to be pretty much nothing but 40k previews. I would also expect another two weeks of preorders (minimum) after that before it hit's store shelves. Which would have it released the week before the studio's open day.
It does not make sense that something as fundamental as a core rule set is being marketed as a last minute non-surprise surprise (if a person can get the official GW teaser, it is highly probably that they would have come across something that hinted at a new edition by now). Why not draw things out and drum up interest by getting people talking? Launching some teasers about a month ago would get people wondering what's up, then some additional bits and pieces would have kept the ball rolling nicely. If they did that, this forum would probably have a 50 - 100 page long thread on it by now.
It's not GW's fault. It's New Line Cinema's deal with them. People really need to get over the GW haterade and realize there is a bigger thing behind the lack of teasers and last minute announcements.
Going by the evolution of the 40k events and that it being a burning imperial eagle....
Maybe the imperium is, as each edition so far, a bit more worse for wear?
Or is that just me?

Part of this doesn't make sense, which makes me think the issue is on GW's end of things rather than New Line Cinema's. Films often have promotional campaigns that stretch on for months. Why can't GW do likewise? There is a huge difference between controlling leaks and engaging in a marketing campaign. Why aren't they out there getting people interested? Don't they want to reach people who don't know about Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000?
Wait a minute. I am being logical again. Oops...
In my local gaming scene, and on the interwebs, it appears to have been anticipated for some time. I think with the leakhammer fiasco and so on GW has had some rock solid advertisement leading up to this release. Who wouldn't go for the free advertising this forum and others have givin it.
Seriously people the 23rd is when the pre-orders go up for the 30th........
Sorry no GW I will not pay twice the $$$ to buy from retail stores in Australia and no amount of adds to the hobby, support you FLGS bulldung is going to change the fact your charging twice as much.
Why can't the pre order be next week and the release on the 23rd?
Awesome, thank you for the heads up on this.
Dreadnot came out the same day as the wd it was featured in so this has happened before.
