No more sale days, no more skulls promotions, smaller and smaller mail order just to name a few.

When GW did the Skullz promotion, about the time of the last sale IIRC, I can remember a conversation I had with a staffer at GW Edinburgh about the fact that this would be the last time GW would be able to do such things due to the constraints they allowed New Line Cinema to put in the contract in order that they could get the LOTR franchise. Basically it boils down to New Line not wanting GW to promote discount goods off the back of their IP. This was 12 or more years ago.

Since this contract is in place, indeed it has been renewed for 'The Hobbit', then these constraints are still in place.

MO has got smaller but then one has to ask, with modern systems, do they need the extra staff as more people order now through the internet. MO is now more Customer services which, as with any Customer Services, is only as good as the person on the end of the line. I have not seen any real change, and I have called them with some strange requests.

OT I am quite excited by the secrecy behind 23-VI-12. Sometimes it is nice to not know what is coming!

I dont understand how New line's contract affects 40k and WFB release rumors at all. How was that written into the contract... I'll go ahead and take myself to "GW General Discussion" and look for a thread.

Indeed New Line and the ever increasingly draconian rules makes GW a company who is quite jerky to there customers 100 times worse. A conversation I had some years later was that it was more a yoke than a bonus to GW.

I honestly wonder why. The figure's are interesting but I have very little interest in any. I loathed WD being split in 2 and honestly making things worse. Them ignoring specialist games to concentrate on the awful LoTR stuff is just one.

Considering how much of the old memories they have refreshed lately, that indeed might either be a hint on what the new book might want to focus on or hint at or it is just some underground-"joke" of some of the old folks who worked on the vid. Or maybe it's just me because I just finished the Seanus/Erebus-part of "False Gods"
I'm really curious now about the story-part of the book which for the last 3 editions had been rather a simple unchanged but shortened rehash of the 2nd ed.

Really? Told us nothing more except they've coloured some old black and white artwork. There may have been some new artwork in there as well, but I for advertising a new edition I would have expected it to all be new.

well i liked the third video, and my friend who has only a passing knowledge of 40k loved it, for the last half hour he has been nothing but," wait WTF was that thing" if the video was aimed at new people i think they did a great job. Besides it is not like they need to sell the old timers with these things, 90% where ready to buy it from the first rumour.
