There's also talk in the stickied 6th edition thread that substantiates the 23rd as the pre-order date.

At least everyone is put out of their misery ! .........and we can see which "rumourbods" got it ever so slightly wrong !
The whole release of information and marketting of anything other than New Line Related games is a GW choice NOT a New Line choice. Its the same as the bull crap the staff got fed ages ago about the old New Line agreement being the reasons sales stopped.
Then it was GW decided to offer nothing back to customers, and none of there stock was ever non-current due to supplying and recycling all of it. Now it is the way GW chooses to market there products - Well for me this is too little notice as I have next to no spare cash atm, so it will get brought when I get the cash. Or never if my mates don't like the ruleset, not as if I will be playing 40 k competitively.
Edit: Could be the actual release date

Bear in mind that the release dates the rumourmancer's tend to offer are based on their experience or expectations rather than some crib-sheet with "drop rumour x here, released on date y". They are only human.
I could not care less about release strategies or marketing - its coming and its nearly here, that is all that matters - lets get excited people - 6th is so close !
Funnily enough I am attending a goodbye 5th edition tournament on the 1st July![]()

I reserve all judgements until I see what they have done - current trend would indicate rewrite the rules to sell new models/more models and wee all over current fluff. I really do hope not, 5th really brought a strong mission focus and slick play system - even if it did then get abused later on. Lets hope for a game that gets me excited and makes me get my Orks, and many other armies finished.
Still I am a bitter old cynic :P
Dunno about the slick play system. Even if that is true it is mired down by every unit in newer codex's getting its own special rule or 2. Newer units that are similar to old ones for some reason have to be individual snowflakes or carbon copies +1 or in some cases +10. The main rules overall are fine with some tweaking and refining needing to be done. The abortion that needs to happen at codex level.
I do look forward to the next edition rules as rumored though.
Despite my valiant effort to beat the thing into submission, my snooze alarm almost always wins.

This is great news and very exciting, whether 23Jun is the announcement date, preorder date, or release date.
I, for one, am very happy that GW are tightening up rumour control. It brings back a sense of anticipation and excitement that was being lost when rumours were released sometimes months in advance, sometimes with pictures and rules. It led to a sense of anticlimax when the product was released.
(as an aside, surely WD is released on the last Saturday of the month? Not getting at anyone just confused!).

Finally ! this is very pleasing news, im happy that we finally have something concrete from GW at last.

It's nice to spot burning GW logo IRL. Good start for VI.
I imagine this thread will get closed or merged into the general 6th Ed thread but otherwise can we get the name changed from "Release Date" to "Reveal Date"?

Would it be posable that it could be released on the same day as the WD as there is some sort of supplament that is realy vital to all pre 6th Codexes and the sup can not be released early as it gives away too many rules? Like Ravening Hords. Was that released the same day? I think so but not sure. Just a thought.
Ether Or, I am very excited. Got my money put away for it. Been saving for months. If I can't buy this book for $175.... i am stuffed and not going to be happy... But, apart from that. YaY![]()
I'll think of something appropriate soon enough to put here.
I think core rules do play well, although most of my 5th experience has been at the 1000 point mark. I agree wholeheartedly about the codices, I think GW desperately needs to do a major review its clear they do not have the capability in house to balance with the current development system. They almost need to do a PP style all units and armies reviewed and amended. It won't happen, partly because of there refusal to use a large playtest pool. They won't even use there own shop staff to do this, which certainly when I used to work for them would of picked up balance issues early, we used to be able to find unclear rules and cheese factor within about 4 hours of recieving the books.
I am expecting the flyer section as well.
As far as the rumoured rules, they could be good but they are snippets its hard to assess them without the overall context of the rules.
