    Tournament terrain

    Hi

I represent a Warhammer club here in Norway.

We are working on some terrain for a tournament here in Oslo, and thought you guys would want to check out our work. We wanted a tournament where all the gamers played on magnificent gaming boards. We have created a blog because we want to share our thoughts and inspiration. This blog will be updated as our work progresses. And we are going to take more and better pictures soon.

You can check out our terrain and get information regarding the tournament here: http://blog.kluffen.com

If you have any comments or questions, please feel free...

How do you store the boards?
Angrier than a hatful of hornets,
Crazier than a crack head cat,
Here to make amusing puppets from your skin,
And sticky treats from your vital organs.

well, that is a bit of a problem. We are lucky to have a big attic available, so if you store them upright back to back its not to bad. It's transportation that is the main issue really...

Most of our club terrain is built to be 'collapsible' - for example the trees are magnetised to the forest bases. Perhaps you could try something like that - rare earth magnets for hobby use are still relatively cheap at the moment.

The thought has crossed our mind, as we are eager users of those magnets. We might just end up with that solution on our new forest gaming board. Ill take pictures to keep you updated

It all looks really nice - the arctic terrain is very impressive - even though it is "just" white it looks like snow, and the lighting makes it very atmospheric. Being from way up north though, I expect you are fairly well acquainted with how snow terrain is meant to look
Trying to convince Warseer that GW are anything less than perfect is like trying to teach a horde of zombies that lettuce is a perfectly acceptable alternative to brains.

What strength and size magnets do you use for this? It's a great idea.

10mm x 1mm neodymium magnets - from www.first4magnets.com. I hot glue magnets onto the base, cover in plasticine and texture. Then I remove the plasticine and clip down any texture that's gone too high. Reapply plasticine and paint/flock as wanted. That leaves the magnets just proud of the surface. For the tree we use the Jarvis bottle brush style as they're cheap, robust, don't require painting and somehow they look more 'right' than the GW ones. Again just hot glue the magnets on. Just get the polarity on the magnets right and the woods can be rearranged at whim.
