Logan, there is no need to update the whole edition for that. Wood Elves could get a special rule that makes their skirmishers viable (at the same time giving them an edge above other skirmishers), and the same could happen for Bret cavalry.

I never said update a edition for WE and Brets, just saying the edition has issues with the unit types the armies rely on, it would be nice if they updated those rules before releasing armies that rely on them, I would love to see cavalry viable for more than a few armies just as I would love to see skirmishers getting a buff (and I don't even play WE).
That's the whole problem. When you design a new edition that nobody was waiting for (some were and are still waiting for their army to be updated), just so people have to update their armies and need to buy more miniatures to start a new army, you could care less for armies that use only +-80 figs like a forrest spirit army or a full knight army of +-60 figs in comparrison to empire or undead where you need +150 figs just to make the army work. IMO I dont see wood elves or bretonnia anytime on the horizon.

So i always hesitate to post anything that I have heard, but have always loved Wood Elves and wanted to add what I have got. My source has been spot on in the past before so I take what he says to heart:
He stated that there were alot of miniature designs for new woodies already created and approved. Some specifics that he mentioned were the TreeKin, Treemen and wardancers/warhawks. He also mentioned a CAV unit tha packe dsome punch but didnt give me much as far as specifics. He said that there was a draft book that got scrapped for not being up to par. They had to do a re-write and they had shifted it over to someone else. But, he said it was set for early to mid 2013 relaese and that it was going to be followed up by their close allies the Brets thereafter.
I had sorta assumed it was the chapterhouse thingy that got in the way - y'know, that they don't get to have copyright for models they haven't created, meaning they couldn't release 'em in multiple waves, and thus either had to rewrite the book without all the new goodies, or finish all the new models prior to release, either of which would push back the book by well over a year.
The above is pure speculation, btw.
Yeah, they only are missing forsaken and the warshrine as well as special characters, but orcs and goblins are still missing their special characters, so I wouldn't count on the legal ramifications of unreleased models playing a big part in anything chaos related. If it turns out that chaos is released after October, it was probably gws plan all along. Same goes for the future of Brets and woodies

This is eminently plausible; but I would have some salt handy for Treekin rumours, as they were in an early finecast wave, so seems unlikely they'd be redone. I have said all along I believe woodies will be out 2013 (although I would think mid to late more likely). Thanks for the rumour.![]()
Brets have no problem with 8th ed, lance formation + 8th ed combat rules looks like they were made together.
In fact there's no problem with cavalry in 8th edition, I still see a ton of knights (empire, brets, VC, HE, Warriors, ...). Empire players are even starting to play full cavalry again, and it's still very hard to handle.
I might hear your point about skirmishers, even if I do not agree with it. For cavalry, they just fixed broken rules.
Sounds good I have waiting for Brets for years... and years...

This is the war-ravaged world of Warhammer, and there's only WAR!... and hammers.
The general hopeful consensus on this (at least in many of the forums I visit) is that GW are holding off on a WE themed finecast wave until September when the Orion novel hits black library. In a way it makes sense, GW have always liked their linked releases. This is a rumour I've heard but I'm fairly sure it's a widely accepted assumption rather than a confirmed rumour.
There's cheese out there friends. Super Sizzler Cheese toast with grilled Haloumi on top, and the wood elf army book is lactose intolerant.
I'd love a plastic treeman kit, maybe with a ton of options to make it the WE equivalent of the Coven Throne or Imperial Griffon kits.
Hi
I have not posted rumours here before but a freind of mine who is close to GW has hinted that both High Elves and Wood Elves may get the Treeman in their updated books. As the Sundering novels and the Everqueen fluff do mention them, this could be a possibility.
Harry / Hastings etc - is this something you have heard?
Take all with salt of course although my contact has been right before
It has been said by some people on here the treeman kit doubles as a high elf sailing boat and an empire campfire.
Take this how you want to, just saying that the tread was really funny to read![]()
