    Really impressive stuff! I hope you'll find the dedication and energy to finish the army; it will be amazing to play with and against this army.

    Thanks - I keep the sculpting consistent using pressmoulds, so I can duplicate the various limbs I've sculpted. Each cloak's individually made, though, couldn't streamline that as easily!

    Oh, definitely - next in line are a couple of character models, which are going to take Hrud body-modding to a lovecraftian extreme. Hoping to get a bit of Umbra involved, easier to do now I'm in a building without smoke detectors.

    Man how awesome would it be if we were able to have a battle? Enslavers VS Hrud. I fear that might be too awesome for the planet to handle and cause a warp rift.

    I thought't they were the same thing? I read the one in the 6th Edition rulebook is what they look when crouched and clothed, and the one in Xenology is just what they look like standing upright and unclothed.

    I'm probably wrong.

    :P Yeah, I'm not sure if the 40kverse could handle an Umbra and Enslaver meeting.

    There're a fair few difference only one as obsessed as me would really notice :P Most importantly it has knees/elbows/wrists, which kinda kills the fun bendy limbs limbs the Xenology version had (the dissection showed it had vertebrae in its arms/legs).

    I've done a groupshot with some other models to get a sense of scale (the tall one on the left is a WIP Plaguebearer, pinks one are converted Pink Horrors). Hrud are mentioned to be slightly shorter than an average human, but I couldn't get decent details in at that height.

    Here's a WIP character - a H'rud Knower (three-legged, one's hidden behind its body). I'm building up layers of "organs" on it before I add peeled back (and nailed down) skin to the borders. It's drawing a lot of its design from this Piper of Azathoth picture - although in this case, the pipe will be drawn from its own organs. The guitar wire's waiting for the organs to dry before I add some fleshybits - it's a shadowy symbiote which protects the Knower.

    Here's the near-complete Canticler, missing only a few details on his back and symbiote. Right now he's an exercise in eyestrain, but it should be a bit easier to look at once his organs/eyes/limbs/flute-intestine are picked out in different colors :P A lot of the fun, farther back organs are pretty much completely hidden now ;o;

    At last, here's the Canticler all painted up. To help makes sense of this - it's peeled its torso open (the metal stakes hold the skin back) so it can play some mad jams on its "intestines", to drive away the sun. Yup. The cluster of pink orbs over the front leg are the eyes. The fifth photo was taken with a flash - overemphasizes the colors but makes the detail more obvious.

    The other two Hrud heros (a quadrapedal placenta-creature which incubates an infant Umbra and something along the lines of a jellyfish wearing another jellyfish as a hat that "assembles" Hrud) are on hold, disliked how the first attempts came out.

    gut magic of darkness?

    have you been sniffing your half melted Umbra again?

    it is good, and more then a little disturbing.

    Ah! its good to see an update, it looks awesome - I see the influences from the pipers of azathoth and nyarlathotep too, but used in a very unique way.

    :P That's just what I like to hear. Truth be told, the melty-Umbra's being shifted towards a hot glue gun-Umbra - been practicing the technique with Pink Horrors.

    Thanks everyone, that's awesome to hear! Wish I had more updates for the subs, but college has kicked back in like a sack of bricks to the nadgers :P There is something pretty extensive in the works beyond the Umbra, though - the Hrud are about to get less humanoid, more varied and far more gribbly!

    That has to be the most METAL thing I've read this month. And I've read a lot of them.
