They might wait for the advance orders going online around midnight. 23nd is the day of these starting, to be released on the 30th.
A midnight event for advance orders seems a little ridiculous to me. If I go to a store at midnight (in Liverpool no less) I expect to walk out of it with whatever I came there for.

Seems like a lot of fuss just for pre-orders. There may be a midlight release for call of duty etc... But not for pre-orders going up. If I was gathered at a GW eager to get my mits on the new editon of 40k, I would be very peeved if I told to come back next week to get the book.
Or maybe even the managers don't know when's what.

Agree with everyone here. Fact remains the pretty much confirmed 30th date suggests to me that a midnight preorder/perhaps demo on the 23rd is possible
They will also have the stores pre release copy that day, so it may well be to get you all 6th ed'd up with reading and intro games so you can order at midnight.
Its been done before for wfb. I know, I had to run it :/

I would think if they are getting in people for Midnight its so they can take something home with them..............IE.......A book !
We only ever ran midnight openings ON release day when I ran a GW store.......
