Tech Marine Heavy List - 1500

    40K Army: Space Marines
While bored the other night, i opened up my army builder and began to ponder on what silly lists could i make and i made the following.. outside of it not being the "optimal" build.. do you think it will work?

    2x MoTF, Conversion Beamer, TH

    3x TechMarine, TH, Combi-Melta, Servo-Harness

    5x (5man Scouts, 4 Sniper, ML, Combi-Melta, Camo Cloaks)

    3x Thunderfire Cannons

    its a gunline basically.

the MoTF's in with scouts on the flanks to get the range for the CB's, the other TM's in the other squads and the TFC's to add more flavour to the mix

I will model the servitors you get with the techies to wield snipers, gs cloaks and use them like skitarii

    so like i said... thoughs?

sorry for the self bump/double post but this has had 27 views (excluding the 3 by me) and not one comment... ive seen less traffic on other threads get more comment...

not one of you have anything to pitch in?

even if its the atypical "this list wont work but i wont tell you why and instead tell you to do this and add this"?

I like tech marines. I really don't have anything else to say as I haven't played "good" marines in quite a while. If you like the idea go for it and do your best.
    but then.....oh, but.....which means.....which would lead too.....exactly

Thats alot of tech marines, for really nothing. The elite ones are really not going to do anything for you. You don't have any vehicles to fix, so half of there cost is wasted. I do like the MoTF's. I am not a fan of scout snipers, they really don't hit enough to say so. You might be better taking 2 sqauds and trying to get some dreads in there. That willhelp with the fire power.

Interesting list though, good luck with it.

If you want to run a Techmarine heavy list the first thing that comes into mind is repairing vehicles, and what's the baddest vehicle space marines have? The trusty dusty Land Raider and it's variants.

A MotF, 2 techmarines, 3 units of CC scouts and 3 land raiders comes in at 1175 points. Upgrade your troops and you get.

    MotF
    2x techmarines
    3x 10 man Tacs w/ Melta, ML
    Land Raider
    2x Land Raider Crusader

That comes to 1475, sprinkle upgrades to taste.

IMO, the Conversion Beamers work wonders, but you are paying for a gun, which you can get out of a dread or vehicle. However, if you synergize the MOTF in a Tac-Squad next to a Venerable Dread, now you can repair.

imo, for each conversion beamer place a dreadnaught (either venerable or regular) next to them, in a squad of Tacs or Scouts (I prefer Tacs over Scouts). Now you can hold an objective with heavy fire support.

I'd probably change it up to

    2x MOTF Conversion, TH

1x Tac Squad (ML, Flamer), Razorback Assault Cannon (Combat Squad half in, combat squad half with 1 of the MOTF)
1x Scout Squad Snipers Camo Cloaks (Objective/harrassment)
1x Tac Squad (LasC, Flamer), Razorback Assault Cannon (Same as first squad)

1x Venerable DN Lascannon & ML (or Lascannon & Fist)
1x Regular DN LASC & ML (or Las & Fist)

1x Thunderfire (if points are available)

This will give you similar to what you want, allow your MOTF's to be useful when not viable to fire (by repairing Dreadnaughts) and gives your army a small frontal assault (2 ASC Razorbacks) so you can slow the enemy down. If its Killpoints then don't combat Squad and just send the Razorbacks off on their own.

I may not be exactly at 1500, but that gives you the idea. Also, MOTF allows you to improve cover saves, which only benefits Venerable DN's even more as its quite easy to fit a shooting dreadnaught in a building. That "reroll vehicle damage" capability is HUGE when given a 3+ cover save.
