The Lance might've actually not been a bad idea in 7th when cavalry charges killed everything and ranked up infantry weren't terribly useful.

There is a way through the coming darkness. But to find it we must change.
We must change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither god nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.
Well that would be fine if they're cheaper without it.

Urgat's Armory v0.3 [Blood in the Badlands Siege options]
Cavalry in 8th ed is a tricky one. They still retain much of there strengths whilst infantry has gained.Cavalry make fantastic monster hunters and monstrous infantry slayers whilst lets say"5 cold one knights" can no longer push aside 30 spearmen .With the latest book eds i am finding alot more choice instead of maybe 1 in 3 builds there is now a 3 in 1 of the design with many more components including heavy and light cavalry as well as monstrous.I still love my cavalry and although they may get caught out there are times where i am glad i bought them along.Although in saying that i do field armies without the cavalry factor and they work also.
Well I have a full Bretonnian cavalry army one unit is to protect 3 OP heroes two on the front rank (lance) with 1+ re rollable armour saves and they get buffed heavily with savage beast of Horros on the higher valueused by the prophetess and are stubborn!! two flanking units of 9 KE and a 15 KE with errantly banner (str 6 on charge) it does good wins bot half to 3/4 of the time but used to always win in 7th ed well I can t wait till they get a new book!!! Bring it on and cant wait til 9th (please rekindle cavalry I can t believe I just said that!)
I can't believe you just said that either.
I personally like armies that look like actual armies and not cav lines
Bretonnia can break that because they have special rules that let their cavalry be like that. I think that's fine but not to be a universal reality for all armies.
NOTE: my use of the word "powergamer" is not meant as a derrogatory or inflammatory word used in a negative context. It is used to describe a type of player that uses power builds
