    Legion dragon force 15-25pt

Calling all Legion buffs! A friend's son has taken an interest in minatures at our lgs (warmahordes specifically) and the father's just a magic player and not familiar with any of the games in our area and asked us to help him out. His son likes the flying dragon-esque theme Legion seems to offer and is wanting an army to that effect. i'm assuming he's interested in searph or angelius and other flight-related models but I don't know what beasts or 'lock best fits that theme. Any recommendations on beasts/warlock?

    Hey
your probably looking at the Angelus, Harriers, seraph and Nyss sorceress and Hellion, you could go for the Nephalin soldier (he has vestigial wings) and of coarse the upcoming Succubus.
For a beginner Lylyth honestly I strongly cant recommend the starter boxes enough or at least there Warlocks but honestly beast heavy you cant go wrong with Absylonia her buffs turn beasts into killing machines, hope this helps.

If you need any more information please don't hesitate to pm me.

the flying beasts are more for mop-up, they generally sweep up things your main force hasn't murdered year. At least that's how my seraphs had worked for me.

The seraphs are great taking out small squads and solos.
the Angelius is great for finishing off larger targets, but it only gets one really good shot so make it count.(it's special attack only works on the charge)
Harriers are designed to pluck solo's, unit attachments, and officers.

and like Demiurg wrote, get the warpack. You get lylyth who's a relatively simple, but effective warcaster, some shredders and the reliable Carnivean.
    Tyger Tyger. burning bright,

    What immortal hand or eye,
    Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

No, it's special attack is instead of initial attacks (like all special attacks), but you don't have to charge to make it. You can still make it if you walked into combat or was engaged since previous turns.

OP: Absylonia is great with all kinds of beasts, and Saeryn loves to take the flying beasts, especially several Angels.

Saeryn is the kinda lock I would take in a 2 warlock list though but I'm probably thinking of her MK1 incarnation

Yeah, the first thing I told them was to get the warpack (why is it the hordes warpacks are so much better than warmachine? lol). So basically an angelus or 2, then seraph or harriers (since they have a similar role to each other, is one recommended over the other for their respective points?), and then Absylonia or Saeryn plus the hellion solo as he learns the game?

Well, I don't really think that the Hordes warpacks are better.
Angelius, Seraph and Harriers don't have similar roles at all to be honest. The Angel is a surgical strike warbeast, with one attack that hits incredibly hard but the rest of his attacks are pretty weak. The Seraph is a shooting and support piece, while the Harrier is a cheap throwaway missile. Sounds like a good buy list though, if he's going for Saeryn I'd recommend two Angels, a Seraph and a sorceress on Hellion for a starting list. That comes to exactly 25 points. Maybe get a Harrier kit as well (it contains two Harriers) since two Harriers cost the same as a sorceress on Hellion, so he can switch between them in the list.

Personally, the BG for warmachince aren't that great; I didn't like the cygnar or menoth ones, the khador one is okay but well short of 15pts. The Cryx one seems best. Their not bad for starting armies, but by themselves (and compared to the hordes warpacks) don't seem as good a deal for play by themselves. But thats just my opinion.
I meant from what Darwin was saying, that the seraph and harrier had similar roles as solo hunters(didn't mean to include the angelus in that line of thought), but I see what you're saying. Thats convienient about the harrier pair and Helion; that'll give him flexibility. Thx for the insight folks!
