    Shipping to UK from US

Hey guys, just wondering what is the best method and a fair price for shipping your average infantry box set to UK? I know there are flat rate boxes but I am guessing they are overpriced. I have some rare DoW stuff gathering dust and I want to be able to give a no hassle shipping quote. For some reason when I plug in box dimensions and weight online there is always a different story at the USPS. ANyone have experience with this? I am not a pro eBayer! Thanks.

Have you tried FedEx? When I lived in Maryland I found they were much easier to use than the USPS, who I only used to send letters and small packages home...

I recently sent a battalion box and a couple of infantry boxes in a bigger 24"x14"x8" box (actually, it was two storage box lids gaffer taped together. Not sure on the exact dimensions, but basically it was as high as a battalion box + an inch or so, as wide as a battalion box + an inch or so, and as long as a battalion box and an infantry box... plus an inch or so ).

Overall cost with USPS was around $35. It was all pretty easy really. They weigh it there and give you the price, make you fill out a customs form (I just put the value at zero, I think), ask for a return address (I put the same address as the destination, as that was where I was moving to), and that's it. It might have been cheaper actually, as I was sending a couple of things, but I can't remember if that was the combined cost or not.

For lead DoW models you might be looking at higher postage costs, but I'm guessing USPS will still be cheaper. I've only FedEx'd stuff myself once from the US, and a 6 page document from New Orleans to London cost about $15, so I'm guessing it will be quite expensive for a package.
It has been brought to my attention that there is also a character called enyos in Buffy the Vampire slayer. Note that my username predates him by several years, not the other way around

    Dogs of War I'm guessing.

I don't remember the exact amount, but I've sent stuff to Japan before with royal mail (crazy I know) and its cost about £20 with insurance against being lost and first class airmail. My package was a mix of plastic and lead and about half a GW model carrier size. Not sure if that helps at all.

^This is why parts of GW may not like the internet^

I have a plog now! Now with actual painted models

Re: Shipping to UK from US

I once had a load of Star Wars stuff I bought for a friend in the UK(plus some other stuff for my family). Turned out it was cheaper to buy a return plane ticket than it was to post all of it. So I did.

Thanks for the tips, USPS it is. Some of the flat rate boxes will work great. First class does not have insurance or delivery confirmation unfortunately

Speaking as a Canadian who often buys from the US, I will refuse to do a deal that requires Fedex or UPS shipping. Reason being that they hit you with massive brokerage charges upon delivery. I can only assume that this also applies to US ---> UK packages. So, while they're probably great options for domestic shipping, they're a dangerous Trojan Horse for international.

Yeah, I've had a couple of fedex packages arrive without the postage cost on the waybill, so customs just made up a price and charged me tax on it (the actual cost was less than $30.00, their figure was $120.00, no talking to them). So if you do use fedex, make sure you include that on the waybill...

What a ridiculous form of taxation, they can easily plug the box weight and dimensions online and find an accurate price. So they tax you not only for the goods but for the cost of shipping them?

I just noticed these old Dogs of War boxes have made in USA stickers.

Be sure they mark it as 'gift' on the customs forms otherwise the Royal Mail will host it for VAT on the amount! Had this happen in a trade with some of my Night Lords.

it's also RARELY cost me more than $20 to get stuff to the UK.
