1500 first time ork list
Hey, I have recently started an ork army, and have decided to build a list from the two battalions, a battle wagon, a box of nobz and the starter set. So I am a little limited in what I can chose at the moment but hopefully that will change soon.
I am just looking for a little feedback on the list which is designed for fun, in an environment where my main opponents will be nids and foot slogging eldar.
HQ
Ork warboss, power klaw, eavy armour, cyborg body
Big mech, kff, eavy armour
Elites
10 nobz, pain boy, eavy armour, 8 big choppas
Truk
5 nob bikers, pain boy, 3 big choppas, 1 power klaw
Troops
30 shoota boys, nob, power klaw
20 boys, nob, power klaw
10 ard boys, nob, power klaw
Truk
Heavy support
Battle wagon, kannon, 4 big shootas
I understand that big choppas ain't the best choice over power klaws, but the nob models with choppas look so good I couldn't help myself, an s7 on the charge sounded pretty tasty.
Also the kannon and shootas on the battle wagon feel like they won't be used much but it looks quite orky which I like.
A couple of questions, is it worth dropping the ard boys down to boys and taking a unit of grots for back field objective holding?
Also I have seen that the kit for lootaz and burna boys, only let's you make 4 and a mek, anyway round this? As I want a unit of 10 of each but don't want to have to buy 5 box's instead of 4.
I hope I have not made any massive mistakes in my list but if soo feel free to point it out!
Thanks in advance

Re: 1500 first time ork list
Seems like a really fun list but has a couple of holes.
That 'ard boy unit is far too small, either remove it for something else or find a way to beef it up to at least 20. Gretchin might be a good idea on the troop front but I'm a little biased because I love Dem lil' fellas
You nobz at this point level want to be wound allocation funtimes, so drop a couple power claws in and I know it might get a little expensive but you ever think about cyborg bodies in that squad? To be honest I would keep my Nob squad down to like 6 men including painboy, but at 10 they'll dominate.
The Battlewagon may also be a little expensive and points could be shared for a little more boyz.
Just my opinion, let me know what you think.

Re: 1500 first time ork list
I don't use Orkz, I'm on the receiving end of Orkz and this is what I beleive:
I agree with Fire. Painboyz are a must and I'd include at least 1 PowerClaw on each Nob unit. If you don't want to shell out more money, then just kit-bash a few choppas & greenstuff into a claw. They are Orkz, ANYTHING works. I've even seen people use Powerfists from Marines and add on Spiky bits. Ebay is a great place with alot of cheap ($1-$2) bits as well.
I also agree with fire. Cybork armor on your nobz! Just put a few bitz on them to make them look Cybernetically enhanced & paint it.
As for the battlewagon? Every battlewagon that makes me cry has a deff-rolla. I've lost games because they deff-rolla'd a building, which subsequently killed 90% of the guys inside.
Also 10 ard boyz is too small. Go larger or ignore Ard Boyz altogether.
Either way, you are off to a great start! Good luck!

Re: 1500 first time ork list
Thanks for the feedback guys. Really appreciate it.
The ard boys are only a stand in for when I move them up to 20 in a battle wagon. And the spare Truk will go to a unit of 10 burna boys when I figure out how to make the extra 2 I will need from the box set rather than a mech.
I think the gretchin will get in an i will have a unit of 11 boys in the Truk with the mek.
I really would like to pick up a defo Rolla for my next battle wagon, the ork army in general is the one I want to grow to a massive size.
I think the best tactics I can manage against the nid army will be charge...any other advice?
