On a side note my brother has asked me to post a picture of his warboss on bike, he painted this last year but it's going to get re-based and touched up to fit in with our new armies.

unfortunately i never got the rest of the squad finished, but i am up to 6 out of 10 now. Ive been busy re-basing some old imperial guard that managed to escape the paint stripper due to them being to good to destroy. Here is my one and only squad of converted tallarns with my part done drop troops in the background.

Great characterful conversions there, Tarsus. What's the plan for them – Veteran squad?
Your brother's warboss is spiffy, too – the grungy, realistic tones fit the model brilliantly, but he's not so muted that he doesn't stand out. Great work

The plan is to use them as a filler squad until I have my whole army converted. After that im considering adding an allied detachment of regular imperial guard so I have some tanks and I could use my tallarns as a starting point.

Re: Imperials vs Orks - A tale of four painters

Hey all apologies for the lack of posts from myself, there is a good explanation though Our first baby, a little boy, was born earlier this week and as you can imagine the last thing on my mind right now is my toy soldiers (although I have been wondering what army he will inevitably start collecting in a few years time haha).

It's good to see the progress Tarsus has been making. I have seen his Tallarn in the plastic so to speak and they are very impressive. I have to agree with Apologist, they are very characterful.

@ilikebmxbikes - Thanks so much! Your Blood Angels (and Astral Claws, Red Scorpions, Steel Legion....Salamanders haha) log is amongst my favourite on Warseer so to hear such a compliment from you is very rewarding.

@Bob Hunk - Thank you as well for the kind words. I'm glad you are enjoying the plog.

@razormasticator - I agree, the Harkoni Warhawks are really impressive. The conversions are subtle but very effective.

Just to let you know I will not be abandoning the project and still intend to reach my 1000 point target. In fact I have plans to go further and paint at least another 1500 (I already have some terminators, honour guard and a land raider which I want to tackle). I'll keep posting on Teldur's and Tarsus' progress but you may have to wait a few weeks before my next real update unfortunately.

    Thanks again every one!

Re: Imperials vs Orks - A tale of four painters

Well, beyond all expectation I was able to finish up 6 Sons of Orar today. I haven't sat down and written the army list out yet but I'm pretty sure I can now field 1000 points of fully painted Sons of Orar! To celebrate I'm posting some army shots.

And here is a quick preview of some Tartarus Terminators I'm currently building up.

Like I said previously, I'll continue to update the log past 1000 points - my next target will be 1500. I've got four more tactical marines which are about 40% complete that I want to finish up before I start painting the above terminators. I also have some Honour Guard and a librarian which I want to paint as well. After that I think I'll paint up a landraider and then a Razorback.

Loving the Sons of Orar, very clean lines, great brush work and congrats on the new baby I see. Wish my Relictors were as clean looking but I like them needless to say (I have enough!!). Nice Orks, especially your brothers Warboss bike. Sweet.
I think your Tartarus Termies will fit in great with the rest of the MKIV Battle Plate, did you get the FW MKIV Command Set? The banner on that will go nicely on your SM Objective marker you posted WIP earlier?
Gotta love the Kheres Pattern Assault Cannon, i'm getting a Mortis Relic Contemptor for 12 shots of rending madness...

Re: Imperials vs Orks - A tale of four painters

    Updates, Updates, Updates!

First of all I've finished drop platoon squad number 2, it's been built without special weapons or a box caster as I damaged them when stripping the paint of the models, I'm in the process of getting some new parts so when I build my next squad I'll combine the 2 together to fill in the gaps.

As you can see, in an elysian list the squad sergeants carry lasguns and cannot take heavy weapon teams.

I've also pretty much finished my first storm trooper, the others are all basecoated and awaiting completion.

I still need to add grass to my infantry and I haven't even started the troopers base.

Here's an army shot so far, I'm pretty pleased as this is the largest painted 40k army I've owned in 10 years.

Tarsus, the army shot looks great. Is that dynamite strapped to the Stormtroopers shoulder haha? I think we are both doing really well getting the Imperial's painted but the orks are letting us down lol.

Thank you very much for the kind words. I have also been following your Relictors and I think you do yourself an injustice, your paint job is very clean and well executed and your choice of the bone colour for the weapons makes for a very distinctive looking force in my opinion.

Yeah I agree, the bike looks really good. I just wish he would post more pictures of his orks

Yes I did get the command set, I'm using the banner bearer in my Honour Guard squad I'm building. I'm going to have 9 Honour Guard in a Land Raider with Sevrin Loth I think

You will not be disapointed with the Contemptor, it's a fantastic model. It sort of puts regular dreadnaughts to shame really, which is sad as I used to love the regular Dreads .

Anyway here is a WIP shot of my Terminators. Two down and a half down, two and a half to do

Those terminator models are brilliant, they look like baby contemptors. Is it possible to get a comparison pic of one stood next to a regular terminator as those look like they might be quite a lot taller.

Re: Imperials vs Orks - A tale of four painters

Thank you for all the comments.

I won't be doing much more work on my guard now, for the next monto I'll be doing some work on my golden demon entry. Although I did order some forgeworld grav chutes which I'll paint and fit to the 20 troopers I've already finished. I'll also touch up some of the spots I'm not happy with mainly a few visors, the clasps on the grenades and obviously finish the bases.
