    Slaanesh Lord & Chaos Decimator - Decadent_Puppeteer's Commission Plog - vol' 4

I have been asked to paint up a Chaos Terminator Lord and a Forgeworld Decimator. The models are to match the clients army, and he's given me two marines to use as a guide:

The Terminator assembled and ready to go:

And here he is very nearly finished:

Fortunately my local gaming store had exactly the same flock as the guide models! I think I need to make the tufts smaller though...

I've tried to replicate the guide models as best I can and think he's pretty much there. The pink isn't an exact match so I'm waiting to hear back from the client to see if he's content with it. I may need to lighten up the cloak as well as I think he wanted it brighter. We shall see...

I'm just looking forward to the Decimator to arrive...

Ahh different approach with black armour only and purple trims (is that the correct word?) and not the other way around. Subtle, but still Slaaneshy. I like it.

Thanks for the comments. I've not actually seen any Noise Marines painted in the way you mentioned, Forkmaster. Would be intersting to see.

There may not be an update until mid July as I am moving into a new flat but keep your eyes peeled for the finished Lord and the Decimator....

    Hey there.

I have to say i think the pink and black scheme has worked superbly. A really smooth paint job and really well executed.

    BUT...

Will you do one thing for me...

PLEASE go back and either drill out the barrels, or paint them back in dark.

    thanks

He's been finished for a while now and I've got a spare five minutes so am able to update with some pics!

The client was extremely pleased and so now we are just awaiting the delivery of the Forge World model. Will probably be a while before I start it though as I am decorating for the forseeable future!

@forkmaster: Those look very cool indeed.

...It's funny how mid July turned into early August! Never fear, I am back on track now with the Forge World Decimator:

    More to follow...

    He's coming along nicely:

...but I've hit a snag. Check out the video and let me know what you think (question's about halfway in)

    Looking really nice!
If you're trying to tie it in with the Marines more closely (e.g. the Decimator houses the souls of the fallen Marines), then I think it's better to keep closer to "mainly black+pink with a little bronze".
But if you want to make it look like it's more it's own daemon engine + just affiliated or loosely allied with these Marines, then IMHO black + bronze with a few bits of pink IMHO is more suitable.
I'd personally stick with the first colour scheme, as it ties the army closer together.

I've seen some people use colour to help display the model's rank in the army (e.g. a normal Marine Librarian might have a blue helmet and shoulder pads, where as a Chief Librarian could be almost all blue -with only a few areas still in the main chapter colours- to reflect their higher dedication to their psychic powers). Are you doing anything like this?
E.g. If the decimator was a containment for high-ranking souls, then it might even have more pink on it than black?

When you have more of an idea about where the pink is going to go (and how much of it to use), you may be better able to think about which type of bronze/etc to go with.

Not sure if these help, just my thoughts.

@andyg2006: Thanks for the comments. The Decimator needs to be matching the other models and so I am keeping the pink to the outlines. It's an interesting concept though.

I went for warplock bronze in the end:

Theres plenty of work to be done on him still so keep your eyes peeled for more updates...

The Decimator is finished! Sorry it's taken me a while to post; struggled to find the time to get online recently but here are the pics:

I'm happy with how he looks and Gavin was really pleased with the results. It's not until I see them up close that I really appreciate how awesome the Forge World kits are. That thing was a joy to paint.
