Hey everybody, I'm playing a Planestrike game at 2,000 points this Tuesday against an IG player, (I'm attacking), tell me what you think of my list. I'm at 1,885 points right now, so suggestions and criticisms are welcome.

Anyone have advice?

Drop two meltas for flamers guard are squishy. Id also lose the tanks they arebt very easy to use in planetstrike and you could get devastators with missile launchers in to do the job.

Don't bother with flamers, your bolt pistols will kill guardsmen easily enough. You'll need the melta to take out his tanks.

The IG player plays a heavily mechanized force,so flamers would be a waste. Also, aren't devestators almost useless to the attacker?

my advice, drop pods... instead of throwing all your men at his fortiforcations and getting gunned down by 1st rank 2nd rank... keep maybe 1 - 2 squads in reserve and drop pod them in, he will have to turn his army round to deal with them taking firepower off your footsloggers, also the fact you can drop 1 pod 1st turn, he is going to be have problems on 2 fronts not just 1.

the point...

IG work well in planetstrike against foot sloggers as they can bring huge ammounts of firepower to bare, if you half there firepower you force less saves
thus increasing your chances of getting on top of him

Why on earth would I put assault marines in drop pods when they already have descent of Angels and can assault after deep striking?

If I remember the rules for planetstrike correctly, I would actually consider taking Dante. His ability to avoid scattering combined with the ability to assault on the turn you arrive could deliver your power fist and Dante's axe straight into combat.

You may want to be careful as a strategem in planetstrike does damage to every unit arriving from deep strike. Hence pods bein useful....

I could use pods, but then I can't assault off the deep-strike.
Also, I'm thinking of dropping the chaplain and death company for a furioso or furioso librarian and drop pod as well as some better kit on my sanguinary priests
