    Representing Estalia?

Hello everyone! I am a relatively new poster(?) (long time lurker though) and am looking for some help for a new project. In the past I have had an Empire army, that was fun and all, but the City-States have grown stale to me. In exploring more of the Warhammer World Estalia has caught my eye, but I am not sure how to represent them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! As I have not found much fluff, I am not sure whether the Bretonnia book or Empire book would be a more appropriate portrayal.

Empire would be your best bet, as Bretonnians don't have crossbowmen, black powder weapons and men@arms (which should just be called peasents TBH) wouldn't really represent city-state militamen... Plus Bretonnian's don't have plate armour which I know Estalians have access too.

They're just humans aren't they? Empire seems like the surest bet. Swordsmen are probably the most fitting core choice, perhaps you could run a Witch Hunter as a Diestros.

There is a way through the coming darkness. But to find it we must change.

We must change and change until Change is our master, for nothing neither god nor mortal can hold that which has no form. Change is the constant that cannot be changed.

Originally the dogs of war army list was used to represent estalia, which featured pikemen, crossbows, duelists, heavy cavalry, light cavalry, cannons, and other mercenary troops. The easiest way to re-create this would indeed be to play empire, use spearmen for pikemen and swordsmen for duelists and everything else remains the same.
    Armies I play:
    Ogre kingdoms
    Zombie pirates
    Skaven
    Slayers

Historical figs. Particularly spanish leaning historical figs. =)
NOTE: my use of the word "powergamer" is not meant as a derrogatory or inflammatory word used in a negative context. It is used to describe a type of player that uses power builds

GW used to produce a handful of figures with an Estalian theme. There were some old Empire swordsmen, and Pizarro's Lost Legion (pikemen) from the Dogs of War. The old metal pistoliers aren't bad for Estalians, either. They do tend to be quite expensive these days, though.

I concur that, in the absence of a preferable list, Empire are your best bet for representing Estalians.

Pretty much this. Although the Estelian Inquisition could be represented by the new Witch Hunters from the Empire as well. Those, combined with Pikemen and Crossbowmen would be a nice start. For figures I think Perry and other historical miniatures producers are great. The European Mercenaries can be used for Estalia just as well, they even have pavises and "European Heads" which could be used for Braganza's Besiegers and the Marksmen of Miragliano in case you go for a DoW force.

There are plenty more, such as Old Glory, Artizan Design and many more. Pretty much ever DoW unit can be build using historical miniatures, the fancy new Empire stuff could be a bit harder.

Warlord Games Pike and Shotte range.

Pikemen, handgunners, cannons- everything you need. They have some really great looking (albeit expensive) swordsmen, as well:
    Swords!

They also sell a set of morions if you'd like to give them more of the Spanish explorer look:

I think Gamezone's Empire range has the Conquistador look to thier infantry... It might be worth a look as well.

I'll second this. I'm working on a historical army using these, they're a joy to work with.

BTW, it seems as if a few of you are confusing Estalians with Tileans, which is deeply insulting to both peoples.
