    2,000 Point Grey Knights

    40K Army: Daemonhunters
Working on a list for a friendly tournament that starts tomorrow. Well, we need to have a list ready by tomorrow at least. All the participants are friends, and I generally know what the armies will be. I'll be facing Chaos Space Marines (Generally three troops in transports, Defiler, Land Raider, Vindicator, Daemon Prince, Abbadon and Obliterators?), Imperial Guard (Two platoons and a third outflanking with Alra'hem or whatever his name is. LOTS of transports), Orks (Not really sure, but our Ork player isn't that great), Chaos Demons (Loves to just use a small amount of insane models), Eldar (He might try and pull a foot dar thing, or he uses a lot of vehicles and Fire Prisms), Space Marines (He uses a Salamander based army, but uses a lot of ten man units in Rhinos. A bunch of vehicles here too), and then there's me as Grey Knights. We'll be have a certain tournament plan and rules, but the basics are kill points with "secret" missions, and objectives. We'll be doing D3+2 objectives, and then we'll have our own HQ objective to hold. The better you do in all areas, the more scoring points you'll have. Anyways, I'll get on with the army I've been thinking about. Any advice would be help, though I may not exactly change what I've put. Honestly, they're my friends and I sorta have a feeling what they'd expect, and what they will do themselves.

    HQ:

    Coteaz 100

    Elites:

Techmarine- 90 Nothing on him (He's there to bolster the ruins in my deployment and to repair the Dreadnoughts and/or vehicles nearby

    Purifiers (10)- 295
    1 Hammer
    4 Psycannons
    5 Halberds
    Rhino Transport- 40

    Vindicare Assassin- 145

    Troops:

6 Razorbacks w/ Assault Cannons and Psybolt ammo- 510 (Assault cannons because almost all of the armor I'll be facing will be an average of 12, and I really think strength 7 with possible rending will help me a lot more)

3 Warrior Acolyte units of six with three of them being melta guns- 162

2 Death Cult Assassin units of 5 with one melta Acolyte- 178

1 unit of 3 Servitors with multi-meltas and a Jokaero- 65 (Coteaz will go in this unit and possibly make use of shooting up deepstriking or outflanking units. The Jokaero could make the multi-meltas better in range or power)

    Heavy Support:

3 Dreadnoughts with 2 autocannons and psybolt ammo- 405 (I'll be placing these in the deployment ruins and have the Techmarine standby for any bad news. The added cover will make them more secure as well)

    ------------------------

That should bring me up to around...1,998 points. There will be a good amount of anti-tank fire all around. I've got some Death Cult Assassins to back up the forward Acolyte units, and then some Purifiers if things do go wrong. I've got a lot of kill points, yes, but you win the game by doing more than just one "objective".

    Thoughts?

Psyback spam.... Vindicare, 3 x Psy Dreads, purifiers. You're ticking all the right boxes for an unfriendly tournament. I predict copious victories on your behalf

Shhh...hahaha. To be fair, I always make goofy lists and non-competitive lists in regular play. Also, most of them already know what I have anyways.

Oh, and the winner gets around $100 or something. So...

Get stuck in there then. Well they're all going light mech. You're packing more shots than a vaccination clinic. I'd say based on the intel you should murder them, even the Guard Flankers.

How are you getting 4 Psycannons and 9 Halberds in a 10 man unit? The Psycannon guys give up their force weapon to get it.
Cotaez' ability to shoot incoming units never does anything. If you really want to use it then try Plasma Cannons rather than 4 BS3 multimeltas.

You, sir, are correct. I think I got it mixed up with Paladins/Terminators because I've used them a lot lately...

    Thanks for correcting me!

As for the ability, I'm not really trying to take it like it's a "clutch" addition to my army. I just sorta see it as something helpful since almost all of my enemies will just have vehicles coming at me, or possibly deepstriking right in my face. Knowing my friends, they'll do this. The Coteaz unit will sit back by my ruin HQ and protect it. The Daemon player usually risks his deepstrikes by coming in six inches of my guys. Hell, if they're gonna do that...then I'll shoot 'em! And since the closer ones are the chunky wound leader types, meltas and a lascannon shot will help me out. Though, I'm not that worried of a situation like that.

I still think that Plasma Cannons are going to do more good. They will wound most things 2+, large Daemons 3+, and will usually hit several things per shot.

Well, had a practice game today for the tournament, and I won it. I faced my friend's Guard army, and we evened at the same amount of transports. His two Leman Russ tanks didn't do much until the last turn, but I just took out so many units. Kill points wise it was 15 to 7 or something, so I took one point. Then we went to secret objectives which I won mine by eliminating both the HQs of his army. I took control of most of the neutral objectives, so I won that point. Then I had my HQ objective, while I contested his making me gain the fourth point. So, it ended up with 4-0 on turn 5. Overall, I enjoyed my list and really lucked out on only losing three of my seven transports? Apparently the Chaos army has some annoying stuff, but I think I got it.

Dreadnoughts are vehicle so no +1 for the better cover. 4+ or nothing.
    WOC tactics:
    1. March 8''
    2. Gateway + Treason
    3. Charge
    4. Gateway + Treason
    5. Throw alot of dice

Actually, in the rulebook it says that when obscured during a glancing or penetrating shot, the vehicle takes the cover save like a model with wounds. So, it would use the 4+ with the added benefit.

In order to get that save at all though, it needs to be obscured rather than standing in area terrain that gives cover.

Yeah, I can see if you are playing against a lot of armour then you would be doing alright - but for a 2000point list in a 'friendly' tournie where you don't expect much armour its a little...

How would you fare against a mass ork list?
