    2500pts Eldar

    40K Army: Eldar
High! It's actually 2000pts I was planning on 2500 but thought that I'd rather play 2000 for the time being. I don't know why I but I suddeny want to do an all mech eldar army or Deldar not sure which yet but here's my eldar army idea. Not sure if it will win much but I'll try and play today vs GK. Oh and I want it to be at least semi-competitve.

    HQ:

    Eldrad: 210pts

    Autarch: 90pts
    + mandiblasters
    +power wpn

    Troops:

    10x Dire Avengers: 152pts
+ Exarch - Dual Avenger Catapults, Bladestorm

    Wave Serpent: 130pts
    +spirt stones
    +EML

    10x Dire Avengers: 152pts
+ Exarch - Dual Avenger Catapults, Bladestorm

    Wave Serpent: 130pts
    +spirits stones
    +EML

    5x Pathfinders: 120pts

    Elites:

    5x Striking Scorpions: 107pts
    +Exarch - Scorpion Claw

    6x Fire Dragons: 116pts
    + Exrach - Firepike

    Fast Attack:
    2x Viper: 120pts
    + scatterlasers

    2x Viper: 130pts
    + EML

    Heavy Support:
    Falcon: 185pts
    +holofield
    +spirit stones
    +starcannon

    Falcon: 180pts
    +holofields
    +Bright Lance

    Falcon: 180pts
    +holofields
    +spirit stones
    +starcannon

    That's 2023 pts in total.

Basically it's all mech and I can outmanouvre any other army in the game. Eldrad goes in with dire avengers into a serpent and the autarch goes with the striking scorpions in a falcon. The antitank falcon sits next to the pathfinders in my deployment zone untill the last turns where they pick up the rangers and go grab some objetvies. Basically I have a tonne of heavy weapons and mobile troops. Tell me what you think.

    Re: 2500pts Eldar

Against GK, I'd take Banshees or Harlequins over Scorpions, but I think an assault unit is wasted here anyway.

I'd run a second Farseer and swap the Scorpions with more Fire Dragons, particularly if your GK opponent likes to run paladins, psydreads, or dreadknights.

Also, the Grey Knights could very easily surprise your Pathfinders with an outflanking maneuver or teleportation, so I wouldn't rely on that strategy, especially not as a late game trump card.

I would always run falcons with EML without question really, they just synergize so well. vypers arn't that great, and if you are wanting semi-competative I advise that you dont either. I would run two squads of 5x vanilla FD instead of youre scorpions and exarch squds. These will drop you 313 more points to spend. If you want a true mechanized army I would put the FD in serpents and fill the Falcons with 5 man DA squads. You should have the points for the two serpents with SC for around 115 pts each so 230 and then 120 for the 2x 5 man DA squads. that puts you at 350 pts so you may want to drop a few pts somewhere else I advize with the autarch. Eldrad is really all you need and the autarch prob would have gone with the scorpions anyways. Hope this kinda helps

I love this list but I would change a couple of things about it, especially for Grey Knights.
bountylord is right and EMLs are a standard for falcons, very versatile and have incredible stopping power. Keep the brightlance though, you will need at least one for the inevitable Land Raider.
Yeah, I would also switch the scorpions out for banshees, tearing apart the enemy's saves is a very scary thought in the world of 40k.
This is just my opinion but you should probably replace a falcon for a fire prism, I know you want it to be all mechanised and having heavy support transports is useful, however the prism's cannon is an incredibly powerful asset when facing heavy armoured shock troops.
I would also drop the vypers, they are about as useful as they are flimsy, I use the quote ''a space marine could just look at them cross eyed and they will fall from the sky'' use the points elsewhere.
All these are changes are just my opinion and the choice always comes down to what you prefer.
Would love to hear how this list performs!!

    Re: 2500pts Eldar

Thx for the replies. Unfortunately I couldn't test it yet Mby today or maybe tommorrow (stereophonics ;P ) I'll try against those damned GK. The list isn't made against GK it's suppossed to handle everything. It has decent Horde killing, pretty good transport kill and can butcher MeQs.

Now the scorpions I feel are a much needed counter assault unit. Banshees are really flimsy if you ask me and the scorps with the autarch can kill average assault units and horde units pretty easily and they will also survive smallarms fire better than banshees. The autarch also gives me the advantage of faster reserves. But I guess they can be scrapped.

I hate DAVU and probably wont play it. I like doing well in tournaments playing armies and units that no one else plays. I also am of the lots of troops=win approach hence the 2 10 man DA squads that can really dish out the hurt. As for vypers yeah they are **** due to BS 3 but are often overlooked and when fitted with medium power eapons like EML or Scatter LAsers they can kill some transports and are pretty good vs infatry and horde. With good positioning they an do well and only die if they go up close into range. Also for fluff reasons well I always imagine a mech Eldar force would have accompaning light support vechicals.

3 Falcons is a must for me, I just love the thought of a heavly armed transport tank

    Cheers PL
