Here's the Relic Contemptor, has a small nick on the leg which I will fix soon Also pictured is the two marines I have painted belonging to the small squad of 5. Army shots will be tommorow Sorry that it's a pitiful amount

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

@ Student/Jericho: Thanks very much The technique is actually "borrowed" from someone on Warseer. It's chainmail with two sepia washes on top. Flesh wash is then added

@Lextheimpaler: Thanks Had to look it up to make sure it was all correct

@Constant_ones: I actually think they are too small XP Though the back banner does make the relic contemptor seem taller. Theres a quick comparison picture below. I initially thought that it would be dreadknight sized

Here's some quick army photos, not that detailed as they are all unpainted, but if anyone wants more detailed shots, feel free to ask The command squad is also incomplete and yet to recieve 4 more members.

    Thanks and leave any comments

P.S: There are some Imperial Aquilas dotted around which the Word Bearers were not allowed to wear. For fluffy reasons, this is armour taken from the Emperor's Children after the events at the end of "Aureilian"

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

my advice con; don't write XVII on the shoulders. It looks a bit sloppy atm, and it doesn't fit with the what i've read about the WB's.

Model wise; Those contemptors look pretty fab, and that's quite a nice collect of marines you've got there. How did you find the rhino build? i ordered a pair myself for my IW's, but they haven't arrived yet... i'm interest to know if its the usual hack and stick that FW provide with its resin kits.

Anyways, can't wait to see this log grow.

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

    @ Igneous: Thanks very much

@ G.Hawke: Yeah, slightly unhappy with the XVII on the baldie marine. I may revisit it or take it out entirely, though I want to distinguish them from grey marines. And I can't really paint the legion symbol. And the Deimos rhino was assembled a while back back it was generally not bad as I remember, some force was used on the side armour Thanks for stopping by

you could always try things like purity seals, the little book on the side of GK armour (your symbol's pretty close to it) and other bits like that. Your still heavy fantatical, so some DA or BT model bits in there would really spice up the flavour. It would also break up the heavy amount of MK7 your running atm. I'd love to see you do more FW models, the handful you've converted so far look pretty awesome.

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

@ G.Hawke: Thanks, unfortunately being at school doesn't exactly bring in a lot of money But I have got a recent handful of MK4 heads so I'll be adding those to a new squad. The command squad will be all MK4 hopefully too Hopefully as this army progresses, I'll add a MK4 assualt squad and a MK3 devastator squad I have hundreds of purity seals lying around so I'll add those to my marines.

Tonight, I made a devastator/sternguard sarge. His current purpose is undecided

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

Here's a small update concerning 6th Ed. Assembled a Bastion as a fortification, as well as a quad gun (a present for the flyers) and an Icarus Lascannon As of yet only the lascannon and quad gun are painted. For Allies, I'm currently torn between 3 options; My WIP Khornewing (pictures of those up soon, the stand-in Logan below), starting some IG (I have a pair of Rapiers and some tanks) or create a totally new Pre-Heresy army (GK-Thousand Sons, BA-Night Lords, or SW-Sons of Horus). Anyway, in other news, I finally got a Drop Pod (assembled it so it could take a dread too), and I made a start on the Stormtalon and it's base. I also threw together a champion which I'm not sure whether or not to use. But anyway, enjoy and leave comments and criticism.

Thanks for the comparison pictures... Having never seen the dreadknight in person, those things are silly huge. I like your defensive lines as well, why did you mount them on the flying/monster bases?

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

The defense lines are just spare resin sprue peices from my FW purchases Added them to the Stormtalon base to add some narrative. The fluff behind this army is basically a Word Bearers force that has been called out to deal with some loyalist forces in an abandoned city on a desert world

    Re: Converter's Pre-Heresy Word Bearers

Here's a small update Finished the second contemptor and converted it slightly to give it a chain fist instead of a close combat weapon These are fast becoming my favourite models, and i may have to buy a Mortis Pattern to deal with those pesky flyers in 6th Ed

Well, if anyone's watching, here's a WIP update on the Stormtalon I'm not happy with the blood on the barricades so they'll change. The actual Stormtalon is about 80% done.

Well, the Stormtalon's all finished, maybe some refining touches that may be revisited Added some red to prevent the Stormtalon from looking just like a grey brick

Techmarine and 5 man squad to be finished next (unless I get distracted)
