If it's aimed at existing customers then what additonal sales are they hoping to derive from it? If it's aimed at wargamers who don't play GW products then wouldn't it be a lot better to say what makes 40k special compared to other games as opposed to talking about specific rule changes?
You mean the vids where they were talking about what new features they thought were cool and stuff? Couldn't they have released those just to build a bit of buzz and go like "wow, I think this new feature where flyers can crash is awesome, be excited for 6th mate!" Not every vid has to be to attract new customers or ensure additional sales; they just give you some info on what's new, which is, if I recall correctly, what people wanted instead of the 3 initial unhelpful teasers.

If I were an investor I would say it did.

yes, well, trololol, obviously, just not as the sole only intent and motivation seeping through every pore on the teaser's skin and they can also simply be used to appease your regular customers and ensure your normal sales instead of badgering the customers for additional ones on top of those. "6th is awesome man, because your characters can challenge others and flyers can crash and stuff, buy 6th!" is your regular sale, as an existing player ought to buy it anyway. Those little 'what I like about 6th' trailers with the developers were intended to buzz the existing customer a bit into being excited about being able to play it soon.

It won't attract new customers, or bugger you into starting a new army (except maybe some allies), but it informs the existing customer by telling them about new features of 6th, that the developers found cool. And unless I am mistaken, the first 3-4 pages of this thread were dominated by "grumphf, grumpfh grumph, these teasers tell me nothing, tell me what kind of new stuff there is in 6th!!!"
