Please do Lord Cedric! Still looking for the perfect mini.... my new miniature budget is forcing me to be really picky about what I pick up, especially with the lack of selling on ebay

Alright then. I shall delve into my catacombs of all-things wizard miniatures and snap a pic. Incidently, the wizard was and still is my favorite rpg class, so I have a selection to display. Keep in mind that some are not painted and the forthcoming pic will need to wait until after work. :-)

EDIT: Ok, I spelunkered into my dusty catacombs (dust flew everywhere!), took down some cobwebs and fought off some hairy looking spiders - frightening enough to give the Arachnarock a run for it's segmented legs! - I took some pics of some of my Wizards. Please note that they were taken last night so the lighting is a bit... off. If any of these look interesting, please let me know and I will take more detailed pictures of it (them).

Hope you find the one you are looking for! Also, the second to the last pic (the one with 4 models) are minis from the late 70's and just into the 80's and are, I'm sure, hard to find. I am unsure of the rarity of the other models but I have seen some of them on ebay currently so some must not be that hard to get. Please excuse the poor paint job as those models have seen some VERY tough D&D and DQ encounters and are still recouperating (I think the cleric had a near critical heal fail and something went awry).

    Regards,
    - Lord Cedric

    Re: Who is your wizard?

Hello again. I have edited my above post, now including pictures, of some of my metal non-GW wizards. Some are "old", some may be recent, and others are.. well, let's just say that they may be older than some forum members (myself excluded). A little bit of info on the miniatures is listed in my above post after the EDIT. Please note that the older miniatures are quite a bit smaller in-size than what is produced for today's 28mm, but assuredly they do not make them like this anymore and they do contain real lead. I am also aware that some of these could pass off as other classes (like the Dwarf with tome and hammer as a Cleric), but have worked in other game systems that isn't Class Based.

If we ever get onto another topic of classic miniatures, I'd be inclined to post pictures of what I can dig up down in my catacombs as I have a bunch.. though this time, I'll bring my fierocious furline protector, "Buttons", to keep the icky spiders away.

    Regards,

    Re: Who is your wizard?

I'm pretty sure one of your minis is a ral partha dragon lance character, very nice. If she is anything like the old forgotten realms minis, she must be tiny. There are deinetly lots of great minis there, you'll have to forgive me for not responding I've had a terrible case of food poisoning and still can only eat ice chips

Oh my. I sincerely hope you get well soon. Food poisoning is not fun. And neither is eating only Ice cubes.

What a good eye you have! Yes, she is a Dragonlance model, Goldmoon, as she is holding in her left hand the blue (well, would be blue if the blasted owner would paint it!) crystal staff of Mishkal. As a matter of fact, if you look even closer, you can see 2 Raistlins (different poses and releases) and a Fizban.

The DragonLance Saga (chronicles) is my all time favorite book series, followed by GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire series. And Raistlin is my favorite character and of course, mage.

But I'm assuming no luck yet on a mini? Hmmm. I may have to dig deeper then. Lol

    Re: Who is your wizard?

I think it may have to due with me liking to paint the monsters and gibbery things, so I keep being super picky about the minis as an excuse

Yes I have been meaning to go back and read dragon lance, as I was ~10 when I read the series and I can't quite remember the story line, outside a little snippets. I just did the same with the dark elf series and it was a blast. Id have to say I like greggors work better myself, as it broaches theames a little more serious than most fantasy lit, which I normally associate as my nerdy version of a romance novel, fun and quick but little is intellectually gained in the reading .
