I don't think anyone claims to hate him. The vast majority of us have never met him, I know I never have. I have nothing against him personally.

I'd just rather dripfeed Tabasco sauce into my eye sockets than ever attempt to read one of his novels again. We're talking Eye of Argon levels of badness.

    Re: Wrath Of Iron?

The thing about Nick Kyme's stories, is that I like the way he portrays some things. His Ultramarines are much better than Graham's, in my opinion, and his novels generally have a pretty weighty feel. That said, I'm not fond of them but have nothing against the man himself.

Back on topic, can't wait to read Wrath of Iron!
I am currently looking to shift a sizeable amount of Chaos Space Marine models, including Dark Vengeance Cultists/Chosen/Helbrute/Lord, Fantasy Chaos Knights, a Dark Apostle, Fantasy (Finecast) Chaos Lord, Warp Talons, Possessed and painted models with Forge World parts. Send me a message if you're interested!

Nobody has said that - what people find laughable is loving EVERY BL book regardless of standard and jumping on posts criticising the sub-standard books. IMO Nick Kyme, who is by all accounts a nice guy, is a very below average author who is getting titles far outstripping his ability with the only explanation being his seniority in the BL publishing hierarchy.

Nah, he isn't that bad. Boring yes, but not annoyingly amaturish nor fluff butchering.

This is really going OT but I'm compelled to ask. Who have you seen in these parts who loves "EVERY BL book regardless of standard"? And "criticisng the sub-standard books"... again who's done that to you? And sub-standard is a subjective label. What you find terrible someone else finds amazing. Its called a 'personal opinion' :-) No offence intended.

    Re: Wrath Of Iron?

Wrath of Iron works really well as a novel that shows you the different layers of command in an imperial army - Mechanicus, Guard, Space Marines. Even resistance fighters. Sure, three of those are there to show you the fourth, but it works just as well.

    Re: Wrath Of Iron?

Its foreshadowed early on and its nice to see the "reveal". I'd been fearing that it'd be some minor character that we've seen very little of. Nice to see it was one of the big bads :-)

    Re: Wrath Of Iron?

When the Chief Librarian makes contact and finds that this is an entity they've fought before. First I thought it was a case of Kor'sarro Khan and Voldorius, but some of the other stuff Chris mentions, and which I don't remember offhand at the moment, pointed to an older connection. And that older connection could only have been the Heresy.

Nick Kyme makes Ben Counter look like a really fantastic author. And I'm not even saying that to be funny.

I feel very sorry for all the Salamander and Iron Hand fans. If it had been the Imperial Fists Kyme had chosen to butcher in his 'literary works', I'd be very upset. Thank god it wasn't.

On topic, I'm going to give Wrath of Iron a go after all of y'alls recommendations. Battle of the Fang was a good read and showed that Wraight has some promising talent as an author. Him and Sanders both have potential as the new guys
