    Rsmith's Necrons

Hi all, just started to collect necrons and thought I'd do a project log to help keep me painting them and not getting distracted. The camera I'm using isn't the best, so sorry if some of the pictures are really bad, I try to get some OK ones.
First up my only painted model: necron lord/overlordClick image for larger version.

Beautiful red, very striking painting looks really crisp even with the photos. May i ask how you did the red colour?

Thanks, I found it on another project log and modified to work with my paints. I used the army painter pure red spray, then a nuln oil wash. then mix about 50/50 carroburg crimson and bloody red (vallegio colour, about the same as the old blood red) and a tiny amount of abaddon black to darken it and paint to smooth over where the wash may have pooled on smooth surfaces. then just an edge highlight of bloody red.

    Re: Rsmith's Necrons

Almost a week since the last update and I've managed to finish the comand barge (Overlord is almost done) and have started painting a doomsday ark, and if it stops being really windy I might be able to begin priming some warriors and immortals.

Not making as much progress as I had hoped, although I suppose I have done quite a bit. Took a break from painting the doomsday ark, it was getting really annoying, I plan to get back to it after finishing the warriors and imortals, I have 6 finised warriors (except base) and 6 WIP warriors and 5 WIP immortals.Click image for larger version.

Awesome color scheme, and it looks like quality painting, too.

Might I suggest looking for a macro setting on your camera? It should be an icon that looks like a little flower.

I second the awesome colour-scheme, I love that vibrant red you've got going there. Very nice.

    Re: Rsmith's Necrons

thanks for the replies guys, painting is going slowly, but got a 750 point game in today with all the models I have painted (including unfinished immortals and doomsday ark) and 330 of my points were in HQ in order to make up the points!.
My army was: Overlord, comand barge, warscythe
    Overlord, warscythe, res orb, phaeron
    12 warriors
    5 imortals, tesla
    doomsday ark

My opponent was tau, with a battlesuit commander, plasma rifle and missile pod
    6 fire warriors, devilfish
    6 fire warriors, devilfish
    3 stealth suits
    hammer head with rail gun
    broadside battlesuit, 2 shield drone

We were still playing with the 5th edition rules, and the game was annihilation. my opponent got the first turn, and one shoted my doomsday ark, but after that my command barge killed all of his tanks and I wiped him off the board on turn 6 for my firat 40K victory, having been pplaying for several years.

    Re: Rsmith's Necrons

Its been quite a while since my last post, second semester started, so not had as much time to paint. Managed to finish the immortals and doomsday ark (just got the throne and commander to go). have posted some doomsday pictures below and when m camera stops playing up I will get some of the immortals. I have also started (and will hopefully complete in the next week) an annhilation barge. Also played my first game of 6th against space wolves and won by 1 point, and a squad of 5 immortals managed to stay locked in combat for about 3 or 4 combat phases, only losing a single guy (to a tactical squad, whatever space wolves call them). gotta love that reanimation protocols.Click image for larger version.

    Re: Rsmith's Necrons

got a picture of the immortal squad, and have started building a squad of wraiths, (new models) but not sure how to paint them. thinking of doing the back red, the front and tail either dark metal or the bone colour, any feedback would be appreciated.Click image for larger version.

Finished painting my first canoptek wraith and have started building the second. I love these models, probably my favourite model to Paint that I have ever painted (not too sure how much sense that sentence makes, oh well).

I've literally just pined and glued it to the base, will try and get some better pictures once it is dry.

    Re: Rsmith's Necrons

That's a nice deep red and I'm digging the bone color, especially on the Ghost Ark.

    Keep it up!
