Bear Mount for Dwarfs: looking for input

Wanted to get the opinion of fellow dwarf players as well as other warhammer players as to the balance on this model. Mind you, I have played with the same group of 10 or so for the last 16 years and we are very friendly with character creation. I did this for a Blood in the Badlands campaign I am running but plan to use him in more games with opponent knowledge. He is created from the shield bearers as a template. Let me know if you feel anything should be lower/raised, added/removed, and any other fun or creative ideas. Some of you out there may have already done this with the old Kislev polar bear model.

This is the reaper model with a dwarf on bear http://home.comcast.net/~silashand/W...ng_on_bear.jpg

40mm base, upgrade for Lord only, model removed as a whole

    GRIZZLAR (what I called a bear )
    M-6/WS-3/BS-x/S-5/T-x/W-x/ I-2/A-3/LD-5

Weapons and Armour: Claws and Teeth

    SPEACIAL RULESMonstrous Cavalry (Stomp)
Devastating Charge (+1 attack the turn it charges)

UNIQUE RULESA Dwarf Lord commands respect when any Dwarf knows he is near. A Dwarf General riding to battle on a bear entirely focused on shredding their enemy takes the respect and raises it to an inspired new level.
Commanding Respect: When a Dwarf General uses a bear mount his Inspiring Presence of 12" is instead raised to 18" as the sheer height and the sounds of its vicious growl add to the booming voice of the General.

Winters Coat and Thick Hide: Grizzlar passes along a +2 to the armour save.

Wrong forum here. This is for getting answers about existing rules; you want Rules Development, down the corridor on your left.

Please, PLEASE, For the Love of Basement Cat, DON'T do that ...

Totally unfluffy by Warhammer Dwarves standards, and it's only a way to give to the army something it doesn't need.

So my feedback would be "Holy Grimnir and Valaya, by the Beard of Grungni, what in the Nine Hells is that abomination ?"

I like it, but I'd suggest ditching all the special rules and adding Fear instead.

I agree it doesn't need it. That's not the point. But I do disagree with you that is in "unfluffy". It is as unfluffy as The Anvil of Doom, the Throne of Power, and Gyrocopeters. I have my own "fluff" and in my own dwarf warhammer world my dwarfs are a little bit different.

I only posted the bear but there is also a whole character that goes with him that reads as follows the WORD doc looks much cooler and fits the current dwarf book well. I also have an extended story for his character elswhere in "my" dwarfs of Karak Hirn write up. (getting away from my inquiry)

    Duggan Agrocragg
    The Bear Rider
Lord: Dwarf Lord General of Karak Hirn

They call him bear tamer, the bear rider, but they also call him their general. He has risen fast as a mighty warrior and scholar of war. His prowess gave him rank but his mount earned him his title. Having lost his family to an orc raiding party, he fended for himself in his young years. He went from clan to clan finding his identity. Seeking refuge from a harsh winter storm he found a cave. He was settling in as a giant grizzlier bear attack him. Finding his axe quickly (to protect his flesh from digestion) he slew the bear. When he had settled, he realized there were three bear cubs the size of a dog. He nurtured them through the storm and kept warm by their side and eventually took them back to his camp. They became his friends and eventually his family. The giant size allowed for him to saddle up and ride them around town, striking fear into those nearby. He eventually decided to train them for combat and they became battle ready, yet tame with the right commands. Duggan is an excellent fighter but it was his ability to lead that gained him the title of General of the Armies of Karak Hirn. Duggan is a possible heir to the Throne of Karak Hirn as King Luthor Anvilbreaker does not have an heir, is old, has no children living, and is drinking himself out of shape for combat and barely leading his people. However, the King will decide his heir and it may be Duggan, Belgrash, or some other Dwarf yet to reveal himself or rise in the Kings esteem.
    DUGGAN AGROCRAGG
    M-3/WS-7/BS-4/S-4/T-5/W-3/ I-4/A-5/LD-10

If Duggan is taken he must be taken as presented here for the listed points. He must ride Grizzlar and they are removed as one model. He must be the army’s General and will take up a Lord choice in the Dwarf Army.

    Points: 360

Weapons, Armour and mount: Duggan rides in on a Grizzlier bear named “Grizzlar”, he carry’s ’Ol Stump Maker which is a Runic great axe, wears the Runic gromril armour he calls Dwarf Skin, and has a the General’s badge.
    RUNIC ITEMS
‘Ol Stump Maker: Is a Great Weapon with the Master Rune of Kragg the Grimm (+2 STR, Always Strike Last, Requires Two Hands), the Rune of Snorri Spangelhelm (+1 to hit), and the Rune of Fury (+1 attack, added to stat line).

Dwarf Skin: Is Gromril armour (4+ armour save)
with the Rune of Resistance (re-roll armor save),
and a Rune of Preservation (Immunity to Killing Blow, Heroic Killing Blow, Poison).

The General’s Badge: This marks Duggan as General of Karak Hirn, this come with many perks as does the badge itself which has a Rune of Luck (re-roll a die, one use).
