My current best candidate for anti-Helldrake duties: Land Raider Crusader - SIXTEEN twin linked shots of Emprah's divine fury into rear armour 10.
Very true, there will always be people who don't like it, no point in trying to please everyone, won't work anyways. Even if they would bring out a lot for all the factions there would complaining, maybe it's what we do best. Guess I am biased in that I don't need all the old Land Raider stuff as I have those at home already so for me those things are quite uninteresting ...
Make no mistake, I"m glad for the people who want all the different marine stuff, it's just so very boring for, well..., everyone else (ofc I mostly mean myself by that)
Utter boredom pretty well sums it up. I used to look forward to FW newsletters because they would often have something nifty in them. Now it just another mark of power armour, another land raider variant, another dreadnought another rhino variant another bits back etc. etc. Just variations on a theme. Which isn't to say some of them aren't really lovely, I like the contemptor as much as the next girl but I'm just sick of the Yet Another Marine Release Newsletter.

Even I *do* like some of the latest FW-stuff (Storm Eagle <3 just too expensive to just buy it although I don't play Marines anyway), but clearly not yet another Dreadnought or Land Raider - these had been 0-1 choice once and rare and everything. But now we got more of them than different load-outs on Razorbacks or Predators all together.

I had the similar Idea.
Here the problem. It's a heavy support choice.. its going to be over 250 in points. Just to transport that many guys it becomes impractical. Now if it took up a slot as a transport, or Grimnar or the wolf guard could take it as there transport, then save for the points it might become worth it.
Real life cost.. its will have to be a save up for it. Then it becomes a choice between it, and the Storm Eagle. While quad guns
are a interesting option, the possibility of flight rules coming in 6th makes it a choice.

Hero: " I think he was the first ones that the Tower ate.. after coming to sir.."
Fugazi: Heheh, brilliant.
Korraz: This is so Warhammer-y, it makes me love the tower even more.
Well, I do think they need to mix it up. Marines sell. Or that is the common held belief. I have played marines, and until the last two years there really wasn't any thing for "Marines" that i felt i needed. Sure thunder hawk.. to much money and i have heard the tails of resin being like glass at that large scale.
I like that there putting out stuff.. but its hit the mark of.. okay marines have about everything the need. They now have flyer, they have tanks, they have drop pods and they got a ton of troop types and choices.
I do want to see what forge world could do if they took the same treatment and applyed it to all the other armies. they did some really cool stuff for Tau, Eldar and Orks. there still Necrons, Dark Eldar and Demons Character upgrade kits would be great.
may not ever happen but hay.. its an idea.

Personally, I love the new marine releases. I have an army I've been working on for ages that contains nothing but Forge World models (World Eaters). I've started it simply because what they're releasing of late is Marine based, and regardless of anything else, they're very high quality models that are a joy to paint.
Then again, I've only been into 40k for three or four years now, and it was the Horus Heresy novels that pushed me over the edge into it. Grabbing these kits substantially adds to my collection and plugs holes. If a kit has too many aquilla on some of the bits, I replace those with other FW bits and drive on. Sure, GW standard kits would be less expensive, and would serve the same purpose, but these recent FW kits appeal to me much more.
I get where those of you bored with them are coming from, but for the first couple of years I was playing I caught myself looking over Forge Worlds's website wishing there was more that was relevant to my chosen armies. Now that there is, I'm buying it.
Your turn will come around again. Orks are decently represented, Eldar and Tau are too, and over the last couple of years there've been a few Eldar kits released, Ork ones too. No, not as many as Marines, but that'll change eventually. I'm sure in a year or so, we'll see folks complaining about the number of Necron (or some other currently under represented in FW stocks) kits FW has been releasing.
There's only so many sculptors on staff. There's only so much heresy era or old school marine kits that can be produced. Patience.
It's just incredibly obvious that they're gearing up for an IA Heresy book or books. That's gonna be a lot of marines beating the tar out of each other, so they likely want to get the models out there first.
i really like it better than preheresy lr
Not really, it just looks like they're prepping for IA:Horus Heresy, and they normally release stuff for their books first, unlike GW who release the book, then ship everything either with it or later.Originally Posted by drbored
When they start working on the next xenos race IA book, they'll release stuff for them - IIRC, stuff like the Hornet and Wasp shipped nearly a year ahead of IA:11, for example.
Well, each to their own, but I personally think Land Raiders look better with the guns in the front position.Originally Posted by Daigar
And anyway, that's where the original had it's guns.
Judging by most threads around here, even some of the people any of the time would be a miracle...Originally Posted by baphomael

This is why I think they should do the crusade first. Deliver the rules, in chronological order of the story. That way other races can be either introduced (never heard of species could be fluffed out by explaining that the GC wiped them out), or pre existing ones can be given some love. Then move on to the Heresy.
I like all this stuff, but I also feel the marine centric releases are getting a little boring. Something to mix it up would be cool. Though, as I stated before, I still want updated versions of the MKI and MKII landspeeders. Also, the marine line has almost been updated. The only things I can think of from the past that need a release are old school bikes (land and jet), Landspeeders, and if they are doing the Heresy, then a couple of packs for chaosification of the older armour variants.
I'll definitely be adding one to my Khorne Legion for Apocalypse! Just the thought of being able to roll up with 8 World Eater Terminators, and 8 Chaos Lords (one in Terminator Armor) and jumping them all out and laying a lil' BEAT DOWN is well worth the price tag!!!!

Orks could easily be added, as they were a major enemy in the early days of the Crusade. Maybe put more detail into the Waaagh that was crushed on Ullanor? Make a character and model for that giant warboss who tried to choke the Emperor?
Still, my fervent hope for the Heresy books is a Martian civil war book with Knights and the Warlord Titan.

Actually it is the other way round. They make models, that's what they do. And when there is a whole new bunch, they want to release their rules in a book and to make it a "better buy", they wrap some story, super cool pictures and scenarios around it. In the past they only released the rules in a small rule-collection-book. But their customers get more of "premium-treatment" now, because they pay a lot anyway. And in the meantime the IA-series are another thing FW got good reputation and well known for, so they continue the trend.
